| If the wheel is broken how do you turn the gas on and off. Tim | |

There's a tap next to the regulator, but the regulator is attached to the bottle by a hose rather than being mounted on the bottle. There is a small nut on top of the bottle where it looks like the wheel used to be. I could screw that down with a small spanner, but as I said, I don't really want to tinker about with it.

I'm still going to take the 'Prakti'. It is a stove, not a BBQ and nothing a wind break can't hide!

Fully clockwise is off so if you screw it fully down you can carefully release the hose connection and there should only be a very small hiss as the gas in the tube escapes. More than a small his and do the hose nut up again to stop it. Note these are gas fitting so they are reverse threaded. This looks like a replacement one: GOK 310/801-1 Gas Bottle Valve ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

| This is what my gas bottle looks like: The broken wheel is a Gok as Tallulah suggests. From Tallulah's advice it seems that I just need to use a small spanner to screw down the small nut, and then I can presumably remove the valve so that the bottle can be exchanged. Having said that, I think that 1.1kg of gas should last us the 2 weeks, as long as I take the Cobb and a supply of briquettes. | |

| Yes, if you know that the valve is currently fully open then it will only turn one way - clockwise.
Once the valve is closed, the gas hose can be undone and the bottle lifted out.
The valve will then unscrew from the top of the bottle so it can be screwed onto a new one and the new bottle with valve can be lowered back into the box. Reconnect the hose, open up the valve and you're good to go.
I highly recommend you buying a new valve or at least replace broken wheel so that you can turn the gas off fully while not in use, especially when driving. In the event of an accident you really don't want a gas bottle with an open vavle hanging around! ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

| I've now closed the valve using a small socket which I'll keep in the van until I get a new wheel. It looks as if the hex nut is only intended to secure the wheel to the squared-off shaft of the valve, but it seems to work fine for opening and closing the valve. | |

| Last year there was gas bottle refills in the local super market (Super U) so while refills might not be available on the site, there will surely be somewhere close by. ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

| Looking back on the pictures from last year's Kaper I noticed that there was a distinctively French feel to the outfits worn at the meet up in Portsmouth. Do we need to look out for some blue and white stripey t shirts and berets? | |

| About that, "we only need a small pitch" thing. Mrs B has decided that we should take the Glawning for storage purpose. I suspect she has a plan for me to sleep in there so she doesn't have to wear ear defenders at night.
I think we'll have it freestanding, not attached to the van though. Getting excited now. I'll be list making tomorrow... ________________________________________________________________________________ Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

| Just reading through the activities available on-site, and I note 'table tennis' so will be bringing our bats along. Anyone else a budding ping pong player? ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |

| I used to play a bit, but not for quite a while now. Oli likes a game of Ping Pong.
Last year we brought along our collapsible badminton set (could also be a vollyball net) which was barely used - shall I bring it this year? ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark
