That was the worry Jules had when we found out about the jack point location. As our bus isn't lowered we do need a step, so will see how we get on with it. At least we're not spending £300+.
ours it not lowered we - go the gym and do some step ups kill 2 birds with one stone - get fit and be able to climb in the van . by the way is the side door access higher than the cab door? ie do you need a side step for that??? - i think not . However , I have to say they look cool with the side step! so if that is the objective it's defo the right thing to do.
ps it's only an opinion in the end you make your own choice that's why we have such a diverse set of buses in the forum

Yes, a great way too keep fit! I use the handle in passenger cab to hoist myself up, or the steering wheel on drivers side. I'm hoping the side step will be more stable than the flimsy folding steps we take on our hols - it's not funny clambering out of bed for the loo in the dark looking for a step and missing, ending up crumpled on the floor of the awning!

One thing to consider is that it uses the jacking points as the location. so given the problem we had with removing the bolt kind of concerned that if it corrodes and seizes when we are out and about and we get a flat we could be a bit stuck ?
We carry a bottle jack to overcome this scenario should it happen (purchased at half price from Halfords for around £10.00)

I carry a bottle jack too for the same reason.
I also carry a 6 year old who is very thankful for a side step!

I have a brand new side step still in its box, never opened, never fitted if anyone is interested. It came from VW Kampers and retails at £249, open to offers.

yes we also use the steering wheel to hoist ourselves in - it's just one of those nice little things that comes with kombi ownership the step is defo very stable so taking a nose dive in the middle of the night should no longer be an issue.
