Prakti Stove/Cooker Empty
PostSubject: Prakti Stove/Cooker   Prakti Stove/Cooker EmptySun May 17, 2015 8:28 pm

We saw a product at Dubs at the Park today...Prakti stove. Looked quite good for outdoor cooking. Has anyone used one of these?

We've been keeping an eye out for a Cobb but the Prakti looked like a good alternative.

Any product recommendations for easy, convenient cooking outside of the van?
Thanks

No experience of this product but it did look good yesterday at the show.
They had red, blue and orange versions on display when we looked at the stand.
Think Harryhornet may have been considering one - saw him pick up some literature.

Just had a good look on their website -

www.thecharcoalburnercompany.co.uk

They do various different versions with either wood or charcoal options.
I like the fact that they get up to heat very quickly and you can then use any size pot and pan on the top.
You can't roast on it like a Cobb but you can bbq using a hand grill.

Ordered a red charcoal one of these today. I really enjoy cooking Indian food so the plan is to take it on the Kaper with a supply of spices and try it out. I'm now looking up where and when the local markets take place so I can source some fresh ingredients - there seems to be plenty of choice.

I like cooking a good curry, in fact I did one this evening. We nearly always have one when we're in France though getting decent chilies can be difficult. Coconut milk and double cream is often difficult to find as well. I usually take a small supply of spices to avoid having to use the generic curry powder that is sometimes all you can get in the supermarket.

The meat, though, especially the chicken, is normally really good quality.

I must remember then to add coconut milk and chilies to the 'packing pile'. We're all pescetarians so we'll be on the look out for some fresh fish and prawns.

Plenty of fish and seafood about. I might bring my paella pan with me if I can fit it in.

Looking forward to already.

We couldn't make our mind up on this & went for the Cobb instead. Don't have the wok style pan though so no curry cooking for us. There was a list of markets in the info that came in the holiday pack too.

I'll probably cook a Thai curry at least once in France, coconut milk, thai curry paste and extra chillies are regulars in Tallulah.

You're welcome to borrow our Cobb wok if you want.

Hi there!

we had a great day at the show we were in cahoots with Tim from Dubdubandaway.

Tim put us in touch with your forum, it's great by the way!

Just to say we have a green Rocket stove in production now and it should be available by the end of July, a very nice shade of green too!
We currently have red available, and our blue and yellow versions will be back in stock by the end of next week.

Also have you seen our single wood burner?

Hope this is helpful, and we're very happy to answer any questions you may have!

best wishes,

Alastair & The CBC team
