Vanfest 2011 - Sept 9, 10, 11 - Great Malvern

hi,
you can put the Buttens down for Vanfest. i see the booking form is available on the Vanfest website. and I know the tickets can sell out pretty quick. what do we do about tickets for the club camping

I can't get the link to the online tickets to work. Hovering over the word 'link' doesn't offer a new page. Anyone else get that?

I've been in contact with them ... it'll work in one of two ways ... either I gather everyone's cheques and send a total from the club or we book online selecting our club's pitch. I'd prefer the second option but am awaiting a response from the organisers about that function.

Keep a close eye on this thread.

i had that problem finding the booking form but it is there . there are a few ways of going to the booking site i clicked every option and the form came up on PDF > so its try each booking option it eventually comes up. I'll try again on the siteand give a clear instruction

OK here it is. Go onto the website
On the tool bar it says ticket prices. Click on ticket prices 2011 NOT the booking form
Then click on postal registration
Then scroll down to advance postal booking and click that and away you go.

Hopefully the online function will allow us to book into our own club zone soon.

Please note the size of camping units allowed this year - looks like they're trying to prevent the overfill situation of last year.

I have tried to book but had problems online will wait till we get our own section (which we deserve) and book then.

The great Vanfest rip off, yes its a great show, but this year they have added another £20 to the price, so now a couple and a camper is £90 for a weekend, then you have to pay a £5 per person to see the entertainment. It is already the most expensive show in the world. Watch out for the lets boycot Vanvest Facebook page.

I've had contact from the camping organiser for Vanfest today. Unfortunately it isn't going to be possible to include our club within the online booking function as it has already been signed off.

Therefore to create a specific pitch for Brazilian VW Bay.com, members should send the details of the tickets they require and a cheque for the correct amount to me. I will then send a cumulative cheque to Vanfest paying for the club pitch as a whole. Cheques should be made payable to Brazilian VW Bay.com.

I have initially asked for a pitch to take 15 Kombis but this is flexible. I need a show of hands within the next few weeks to see how the numbers are and then cheques by the last week of June.

So let me know people!

You won't be able to confirm by the end of June? Ok - Vanfest will only give us a pitch capable of taking confirmed bookings so as long as you are aware of that, that's fine.

VANFEST “VANCY DRESS” - A FANCY DRESS COMPETITION for you AND your CAMPER

This is something NEW for this years VANFEST which the whole family & friends (including your van) can get involved in.

Many of you already dress up to go to our evening entertainment; (others because you just like dressing up!). Why not get your van involved as well?

This year we have numerous themes running at VANFEST over the weekend, so there is plenty to chose from if you cannot manage to come up with something yourself.
Many Clubs are also taking part in our Themed Club Plot Competition as well so a “VANCY Dress VAN in the VANCY DRESS Competition could also be part of it as well.

Our MAIN Entertainments over the weekend include “RIGHT SAID FRED” plus (from the X Factor) DIVA FEVER.
We are having an ABBA NIGHT in the SEVERN, with COUNTERFEIT ABBA.
All of these, of course, fit very well to having a “CAMP CAMPER” Theme.
On Saturday we are having a CARIBBEAN EVENING in the MARQUEE & our special guests and Main acts in the SEVERN HALL ON THE Saturday Night are MIKKI JAY & SLADE. So TROPICAL or GLAM or THRILLER ZOMBIES are other possibilities.

What we are looking for is to have a Special VANCY DRESS gathering of VANS (& People) all suitably attired in the MAIN Arena on the Saturday (before the evening entertainment kicks off.- We do not think it will be possible to do this on the Friday evening unless we have some definite takers up front).

At some stage there will be a CARNIVAL style PARADE of the VANCY DRESS VEHICLES around a designated route on the Showground & (of course) a prize for best VANCY Dressed vehicle (and also PRIZES & a little something else for everybody else who take part as well).

We would like to try and keep the rules for the VANCY Dress Competition as basic as possible so the main one must be that the vehicle that takes part must be a VW Transporter and it must be dressed up in a temporary fashion, (ie not already themed & customised permanently with paint job etc). We will also have to limit the total number of vehicles taking part to 20.

If you feel you (and your van) are up for this please let us know (well) up front as we really want to get this one up as something new (and unique again) to Vanfest, We are running out of things for other events to pinch! We will give what ever assistance we can to ensure it gets off the ground.

SYNCRO4MOTION DISPLAY

As a follow up to our 25 years of SYNCRO display at last year’s Vanfest and the very successful European Syncro25years event we were determined to put on something else Syncro wise at VANFEST this year.

As luck would have it this has worked out rather well.
Following a lot of lobbying by Syncro fans from Germany, Belgium, France and the UK, VW at Hanover have also been convinced that it would be a good idea to celebrate their 25 years in 4 wheel drive motion.
The end result is a very “Special Edition” T5 4Motion called the “ROCKTON”
This vehicle built by Peter Seikel is basically an up-rated & very rugged 4Motion T5, build for the Services, Trade and Farming industry. Similar in concept to the faithful “old” 16” Syncro, it has underside protection plates, a 30mm increase in ride height a shorter ratio gearbox & bigger 16” chunky tyres. It will be marketed and sold through VW dealerships

It gets better………..

VW have now asked a German Company called Terracamper to build a Camper out of the ROCKTON. This Camper will be called the TEROCK, and YES we will hopefully be having one of these at our event as well (after its launch as an officially recognised VW at the Dusseldorf Motor Show @ the end of August).
Terracamper & their entire range of 4WD vehicles which includes a Caddy 4motion & a T25 Syncro Doka, plus camper modules for the T4 & T5 and of course the fabulous new ROCKTON TEROCK will be with us at Vanfest.

VANFEST EVENING ENTERTAINMENT

We are now in a position be able be able to announce our latest (and hopefully final) plans for the EVENING ENTERTAINMENTS at this years Vanfest.

The Showground is now “reasonably” confident the building works to the Severn Hall will be completed in time for our event.

However, we have (for technical reasons) decided to revert back to our original arrangement of having our MAIN LIVE artistes in the MARQUEE.
One of the bands sets needs at least 9 metres headroom (& this is not just for their ego’s!). When you see who we have got lined up for, you will realise why this is the best way to go forward.

VANFEST BIG 60 – A CELEBRATION OF OVER 60 YEARS OF TRANSPORTING

Following on from last years preliminary attempt of getting a VW Transporter from each year of manufacture into a single line up.

This year we are going to have another go at it and hopefully this time we will get a FULL compliment of vans.

It really is very simple. We are looking for (wherever possible) fairly standard vans from each year of manufacture. This will be done on a first come basis & we will gradually build up running list of successful vehicles, which will be shown on the website.

This display will take part on the Saturday in the MAIN ARENA..

If you would like to take part in the display please check out the listing held @ our promo stand to see if there is a slot available or check the running total on the Website. If there is one available please book yourself in @ our stand or send Email with your details.

I had someone covering for me for a few days at work while I attended the show.
He has just advised me that he has a new job starting early Sept and so cannot cover me.
