Colour Years

I thought you may find this interesting. I get a Motor Trade publication called Car Dealer Mag. In this month's copy there is a breakdown of which colours sold highest in cars over the last 20 years. The stats are these:

1996 Green
1997 - 1999 Blue
2000 - 2008 Silver
2009 - 2012 Black
2013 - 2016 White

Of further interest is that Silver saw the biggest decline in 2016, and that Black has now overtaken White again this year.

I must say, imo a glossy Black BraziBay can look fantastic when combined with the chrome pack and some sharp alloys!

What was it with white cars, I'm pleased black is making a come back!

Whilst any blue shade of Brazibay is best, I love the rainbow when the Brazibay family gets together.

The manufacturers have forced the trend towards black and white through restricting colour availability and charging extra for metallic. Most colours tend only to be available in metallic. Silver was largely popular because it tended to be easier to resell and carry a price premium on the secondhand market.

I had a black MGB and vowed never to buy black again - as it showed every speck of road-dirt! I was for ever washing and re-polishing the wretched thing whilst a friend had a white one and did far more enjoying it - looking smart, and far less washing!
I have no idea whether modern black is better at avoiding road-dirt sticking?

Docmark. I think that modern blacks are just as bad. My mini is dirty seconds after it's washed.

I did laugh this morning when I drove past an M&S lorry on the M3. Someone had written on the back -
"This isn't just dirt, this is M&S dirt"

Pretty sure some of these colours were invented earlier.....

Thanks Tim - that's ours your describing although I have to admit it is rarely clean.

Thanks for that Scooby. It's mixed feelings about being off - no school is lovely but very odd. I feel absolutely fine - except for the fact that I'm fairly immobile. So washing and cleaning the van is not really an option. But it is nice and snug in the garage - just not clean.

Oh and I can't drive yet so couldn't drive it out the garage !!

Perhaps overseeing others doo the work might be an option!
