PostSubject: Installing Speakers Under The Rear Seat   rear - Installing Speakers Under The Rear Seat EmptyTue Jul 17, 2018 6:26 am

After Tango had his Spaceroof fitted, I needed to find somewhere new for the rear speakers to go. Having discounted anywhere within the roof, I elected to go under the seat squab facing forward. That ought to fill the whole cabin nicely with sound.

Where to run the cabling of course was the question. So I decided to go underneath the BraziBay! Fortunately there is a rubber grommet dead centre, just under where the rear seat is located. Using that as the entry point, I fitted the speaker wires into their own plastic loom, which I then chased along the same route as the main VW loom, all the way up to the front, and up through behind the front panel.

I went for Alpine speakers and they don’t intrude much behind the fascia under the seat.

Audio testing takes place today!!

A few extra shots and the all important dimensions.

The speakers I used are Alpine SPG-17C2 - superb sound for £40.

Fabulous sound inside Tango now and Aircooled purrrfection to those we pass by!

Btw to prevent anyone catching themselves or anything on the screws holding the speakers in place, I covered them with the little rubber 'witches hat' style black grommets that would normally fit in the body panels of a classic Beetle. Popped some blutack inside them and then pushed them on. Job done. Basketball

I guess you’ve just to be a little more careful when you load stuff under the seat.

Slow day at the office eh Dee?!

Started with Charlie Puth's Done For Me ..... to break them in, then moved on to Swales - Higher, then Eric Prydz - Generate. Cool

Quite the opposite, very busy also at lunch!

I know you're into your music so knew the choices would be interesting - love that Swales track, it samples one of my all time favourite disco tunes

Haha - yep the original is great - but I prefer the rehash from Cherie Amour in 2000!
