Gearbox for 2012 watercooled Bay - wanted

I’m in search of a gearbox for my 2012 Brazilian Bay, which is watercooled. The original box is about to arrive with Brabay for a full reconditioning. It’s already been out of action for a few weeks and I’m keen to not have this happen again by buying another working box ASAP.

Let me know if you have for one for sale or if you know where I might be able to find one. PayPal/Bank Transfer waiting.

I’m based in Yorkshire but am happy to pay for it to be shipped from anywhere in the U.K.

If BraBay sorts your current gearbox, why do you think you need a spare? Just curious.

Mainly because I rent the van out during the summer (as well as going away with my family) and this has cost me about 8 bookings and a lot of time. I sent the original away to another Gearbox company in Kent and they spent almost three weeks trying to source parts. That was before I discovered Brabay and so I plan to have him recondition both boxes unless the second one I buy has already been done to his standard.

I'm keen to have another one on standby just in case it gets harder to source parts. Given that VW Heritage etc no longer sell my worry is that if it goes again (fingers crossed it won't for a long time) I'll have to wait a few weeks for repair.

My advice would be to proceed with caution when sending to generic/modern gearbox repair company, sourcing parts may not be too much of a problem  ( yet those guys you sent the gearbox to, clearly been looking in the wrong places! my guess is they have never seen one of those before)  however there are several adjustments that require special fixtures, jigs and tools - (for example shift forks adjustment, pinion depth and more) and those jigs and tools are obsolete and not available second hand either and without them you cannot rebuild those gearboxes correctly.

We will be bringing over a dozen or so gear boxes in December this year for both 2007 - 2010 and 2010 - 2013 Water-Cooled models.

Hi Luke, thanks for the kind offer but my broken unit is with Brabay now and he's starting work on it so I don't think it's going to work this time. Let me know if you're willing to sell not exchange though.

From phoning Ian at Brazilian Kampers recently, the other person in the office said he was getting a load of parts from Brazil. If it is just another Brazilian gearbox you wanted this might be a route to getting one.
