Our advice in addition to the info in the link is to set a budget and stick to it.
When viewing a Kombi if there is something not right in your opinion walk away.
There are plenty of vehicles out there and there will be one that is right for you.
Get the most you can for the budget and perhaps be flexible on colour (if you can).
When we found Scooby we were not looking for a specific colour.
We just wanted the best Kombi we could afford, with a decent amount of extras already fitted.
If appropriate, try before you buy is also a good thing to doo - particularly with Diamond or Rio layouts.
Good van hunting and doo enjoy the experience.

Always good to buy from an enthusiast or a dealer specialising in the type. Enthusiasts tend to look after their campers better and specialist dealers will prep to a high standard. Basketball

Advice please on buying a van Empty
PostSubject: Re: Advice please on buying a van   Advice please on buying a van EmptyWed Nov 27, 2019 3:43 pm

We are picking ours up on Friday (at last!)

My tips, for what they are worth...

- do lots of research, make sure this is what you want, as opposed to a T5 or T6.
- work out list of must haves. You probably won't find a van that has them all, but most things can be retro-fitted
- our biggest must have was direct drive power steering
- test-drive several, get a feel for how they drive
- VW Kampers at Henfield are brilliant. We are buying ours from there. They have a great selection, and could not be more helpful.
- enjoy the process!

Hi Graham,

Look forward to meeting you at VWK, please let me know a day and time and we can make sure we allow enough time to answer all your questions and allow some test drives.

Many Thanks
