Importing a Brazilian Kombi from the Uk to NZ

Hi Guys,

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of importing a Kombi, particularly a Brazilian Kombi, from the UK to NZ? I understand there maybe some pitfalls and issues but am not clear what they maybe, is it possible?
Any advice or opinion gratefully received!

If your vehicle has had any bodywork repairs, the paint and/or underseal would probably need to be stripped and inspected by inspectors in New Zealand, to determine whether it complies with New Zealand requirements. Just because a vehicle will pass the British MOT inspection, is NO guarantee that it will pass the 6-monthly WoF - Warrant of Fitness inspection.

Any "significant" modifications to the vehicle, will have to be inspected, and if acceptable then certified and plated before a WoF inspection can be conducted. Keep in mind that New Zealand authorities will probably be unfamiliar with the factory-standard specifications of these Brazilian-built vehicles. I'm not sure how they would feel about having the passenger sliding door on the offside and/or the steering wheel on the nearside!?!

There is a lot of information available about such things on official websites in New Zealand, but I cannot recall which ones for the moment.
