Watercooled Stainless Steel Exhaust

If this is your first replacement exhaust your doing well, mine only lasted 18 months, which I was informed when replaced at Danbury was average......

There's loads of factors involved: where the Kombi is kept, whether it does lots of short journeys, prevailing road conditions ie salt. Generally a vehicle that does lots of short journeys will have its exhaust rot through quicker because the condensation that builds up in the silencers never gets dried out.

I'm sure there's another thread discussing exhausts, but can't find it using the search.

My exhausts had a big hole in it for months now. Plan to get a stainless steel one fitted in time for its first MOT!

Had a quote from longlife.co.uk for £599 including cat fully fitted, so should be cheaper from cat back.

Yesterday Maddy went in for her 2nd MOT she passed !! only needed headlamps adjusting. I replaced both silencers 18 months ago and on a recent inspection noticed both silencers corroding they seem to corrode from the outside.
The garage that sorted my MOT also specialise in stainless steel exhausts;
Powells Garage, Redruth, Cornwall, Tel no;01209 215755 they replaced the exhaust from the flexi pipe back ie the back 2 silencers as cat seems ok. Cost £350 fully fitted guaranteed for life, only £100 more than the crap brazilian original VW supplied silencers and an excellent job they have made.

Long way to go if you dont live in Cornwall but if you holiday here its worth booking in for the day Powells have been voted UK Independent garage of the year !

Hi, I can't remember who fitted mine, but it was about £250.00 for a half system, stainless steel, lifetime guarantee. Google can find a local fitter.
