Bits & Pieces

After looking at people's lovely vans on here I've come up with a quick list of bits and pieces to buy:

Is there a place that stocks all of these goodies or is it just a case of looking around eBay?



1) Chrome/stainless light surrounds.

2) Grille (is there a place that sells these painted white? or is it best to do a self paint job).

3) Clear indicator covers.

4) Chrome/stainless mirrors.

5) Has anybody ever seen any new style aero wipers that would fit the bay? I just think they would hug the window a little better than the standard ones. Not only that but these need replacing anyway. They've seen better days

All the chrome bits are available from the parts retailers who advertise on here. The grille you'd need to get painted with the appropriate flexible paint.

I've been meaning to swap my blades to aeros but don't need to change them yet. They need to have the fitment specific to the T2. Try wiperblades.co.uk

Do the old grilles fit on these vans? I don't know whether to buy a replacement to spray in case I mess it up haha.

. Hi yep old ones fit put one on my 55 plate bay and sprayed with rattle cans

Hey Dazdub - have always wondered if the old grille fits the Brazilian bays. Do you need to drill any extra holes or is it a straight swap?

I've got 3 out of 5 on our '04 van. Do I get a prize ?

Do you think the top bayonet adapter is the same as we have on the van? It looks it to me.

I've just contacted Just Kampers about the grille as they have none in stock at the moment.

Our van has chrome headlight surrounds and wing mirrors and clear lenses. Looked into changing the windscreen wipers for chrome but have yet to do anything about it. Would also like chrome handles - too much?

I think the handles would look nice, but I'm not sure on chrome wipers to be honest. I've not seen any before though so I could have my mind changed

Where did you get the clear lenses from if you don't mind me asking?

Happy for you to ask - came with the van - and come to think of it haven't really seen any advertised. If you go to Stanford Hall this Sunday you could probably get everything you wanted - plus some other things you didn't! We are on the hunt for a radio flyer or equivalent as we are doing Camp Bestival with the two monkeys - sorry children.

I think that eBay one looks good including the bulbs as well. It's no wonder I couldn't find them though calling them flashers

I'll contact VWheritage to see if they can do all of the bits and pieces.

This is where I got them from here, though I could have sworn our T2s take 16" blades but the smallest they're now showing is 18", so maybe out of stock at the moment.

At nearly £20 per wiper they might seem excessively expensive but they will pay for themselves over time as they are so long lived, and work far better than ordinary blades.

I'll take a look at PIAA as I know their products are always good quality. We've measured ours and one is 16" and the other is 18" so I'll try and get the same.

Like you say though, they do seem good.

Well I've ordered the clear indicator lenses and wipers.

I've just been looking on VW Heritage and found the mirrors, light surround and eyebrows that I want.

Does anybody know if you can pay them by paypal? I'm sure I've had a look before and they had a paypal option, I can't find it now though (and I've got a bit of money saved in paypal from selling bits from the evo )

Also, where do we put in about being a user on here? I the promo code, or in the what else do we need to know bit?

It's been an expensive to start to signing up on here

I've just got back from a nice long weekend away to be greeted with some goodies.



The aero wipers look like they have the correct fitting which is a bonus, it was a little gamble there

I'll let you know if they are any better.

Still loads more bits to come too

Will definitely be interested to hear how the wipers go. I reckon they'll be a great improvement.

Likewise with the wipers. Where did you get them from? And also where did the new mirrors come from?

I'll give a bit more feedback when we get the MOT and have a run out for a few weeks.

I do think they will be an improvement.

I got the mirrors from eBay here and they seem pretty decent.

They are plastic coated chrome, so I'm not sure if you would want metal ones, but these looks pretty good.

I'll get some more pictures when I fit them (possibly next week)

Just to point out that the arms are metal though.
