When we choose a destination we try to pick a campsite that is within a short walking distance of the target of our trip.

Staying at Bowness on Windermere Camping and Caravanning Club Campsite means a short walk into a lively town.
Then a chance to ride to boats north to Ambleside and south to Lakeside

If you're ever going to a show or display at the Kent Showground, in Detling, there is a great park called Oak View Holiday Park. Less than a mile to walk to the showground, the facilities are always well looked after and the staff are very friendly. We've stayed there a few times over the last few years and they're always more than happy to have a VW bus turn up!

When visiting the famous Beamish Museum of the Past - www.beamish.org.uk - we camped half-a-mile down the hill from the the entrance.
Was called Bobby Shafto campsite but now shown as www.beamishholidaypark.co.uk

If you want to visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan - www.heligan.com - then you can stay right next door at Heligan Caravan and Camping Park - www.heligancampsite.com - and even use the restaurant which is outside of the gardens complex.
