I came across the film 'Growing Energy' on the e2 Energy series of the Community Channel on Freeview. It tells how Brazil moved away from oil to make Ethanol fuel from Sugarcane and how VW needed to develop their 'Flex' engine capable of running on any mixture of petrol and Ethanol. There are a few sightings of Kombis and the film is available to rerun at
