| Hey Guys The Kombi Kaper continues . . . . . . We were 12 miles from Daz it was 6.00pm on a Friday night, under grey skies in a foreign land with no mobile signal What could we doo? Were we in someone's evil plan to capture Scooby? But then Scooby pointed to what looked like a public house in the distance - well done Scooby We hoped they had a land line and would be able to offer some assistance and shelter We scrambled for what seemed like an age up the rocks before we got to their door (say 15,000 to 20,000mm away) They had a phone and did not charge us to use it We were at a location known as Cross Foxes We phoned Daz and 'relayed' our story - he said he could be there in under 30mins He would bring his jack and a spare clutch cable and was confident he could repair it (if it was the cable) While we waited we pondered the length of time it would take to get back home via the AA if Daz could not repair it We thought it might be before lunch on Saturday But again we kept calm and had some Scooby Snax In no time Daz was here and he started straight away It was the cable and he could fix it - the man who can - everyone should have one Scooby would be safely out of the mountains before night fall - hurrah As Daz continued to work - see below - OSG pulled up and we had a little chat - safety in numbers you know OSG then left and before long who should turn up but the splitsombrero so we flagged him down Again safety in numbers, keeping the spirits up, then the cable was fixed, thanks Daz We then travelled in convoy all the way to the DazDub Do When parked up we meet up with Roobarb and the Daz family including the two dogs Much chat, laughter, food and drink then followed late in to the night, not always in that order But what challenges would lay ahead of us tomorrow . . . . . . (More pics to follow shortly) To be continued ________________________________________________________________________________ Proud winners of Spike's Trophy 2017 Scooby - Born To Run | |

| Interesting story but I sense a fabrication. The number plates in the pictures above don't match, so one must be an imposter...

| Hey Guys So, we know we have posted too many words and not enough pics This we shall endeavour to rectify with the following entry . . . after these few words Friday night we just parked to give each other some space Early Saturday morning it was good to see the two resident dogs playing with Scooby Note the Yellow beetle guys - it's YellowOur hosts even slept in their Kombi to make us feel at home - thanks guys In this olympic year, the secret challenge was to have fun based around the olympic rings, kept on a need to know basis After breakfast and some mid morning Brazi Bay chat we were off to walk the Barmouth Bridge into the town We all drove the short distance to the station and parked in formation Here are some pics from and of the bridge . . . As we entered the town Scooby mentioned he was on the look out for a couple of white star fish To be added to the two blue one's on the dashboard - this was the next challenge but not before . . . A fish and chip lunch in the town looking out to sea We ended up going round and round the town (think olympic rings) without success Being a Saturday we thought there would a shell shop open on the sea shore and they would surely have sold them It was shut, closed down sometime ago some one said We Saw Shirleys Shell Shop on the Sea Shore was Shut, Shame We had more luck in the ice cream parlour - Where We asked Whether the Whippy Was Working and it Was - wehheeee Made our way towards the station for the short journey back Here is a pick out of the window as we said fairwell to Barmouth until next year's Dazdub Do So we drove back to base for some afternoon refreshment Where would we then go . . . ________________________________________________________________________________ Proud winners of Spike's Trophy 2017 Scooby - Born To Run | |

| Hi Guys Here are some more pics of the weekend . . . Saturday afternoon (after a G&T) we walked into Fairbourne in search of star fish - but no luck again So we walked on to the beach to look on the sea shore Saw plenty of jelly fish - some the size of dinner plates - but no star fish So we headed back to base camp for the next challenge . . . Hula Hoops Truly an olympic ring challenge that caused much laughter amongst the assembled gang Belly, arms and legs - with the aid of crutch - were used in this one You can put your own captions to the following batch of pics . . . As requested Batman, embarassing pics of almost everyone, but the night was still young By the way we were having the odd drink or two as the pics show Next it was on to Quoits - rings again guys Various options were experimented with, this first pic shows the simple straight throw We progressed on to over chairs, under chairs and even through chairs with fun had by all as we prepeared the BBQ and salad The drink was flowing now guys - but responsibly mind Some one said various hats were available and before you knew it some more embarassing photo ops presented themselves - here are just a couple . . . The last one was during a break in the FAB Quiz prepared by the lady of the house, after we had eaten our fill from the BBQ Even the food had rings, think round burgers, rolls, cut cucumber and pineaapple rings - some with sausages - they made me demonstrate this . . . The wind was blowing out to sea so one or two Chinese Lanterns were set off It is amazing what fire can bring out in people - here are one or two pics After the quiz, which was won by the wrong team, and after the lanterns much more banter took place late in to the evening - with a drink or two of course There was much laughter, good food and fellowship that evening but we had to get some sleep sometime So as we made our way back to the Kombis we still had to make our beds and put up the thermals - so much for forward planning ________________________________________________________________________________ Proud winners of Spike's Trophy 2017 Scooby - Born To Run | |

| Hi Guys Final pics of the weekend from us (typical, you wait for some pics then three lots come along all together) Awoke to bright sunshine with a blue and white sky Thought we had better put some sun tan cream on the nose of Scooby You know how hot the sun can be in foreign lands As the sun burnt off the clouds it turned in to a glorious day This was probably why Scooby was so thirsty - even though he had one or two drinks last night He was not right as he staggered about He soon cleared his head and went to play with the other Kombis Here are a few group pics . . . Before you knew it was lunchtime and time to make tracks Just before we left we saw a real Red Dragon Fly in the land of the Welsh Dragon We said our good byes to everyone and followed the splitsombrero down through the middle of Wales as the alternate route home Great views along the way - will need to come back again Thanks to everyone who attended, but in particular a very big thank you to our hosts for the weekend and a special Scooby Thanks to Daz for his engineering expertise Great Hospitality, Great Company, Great Times Enjoyed it all guys - thanks - here's to Dazdub 2 Rooby Roo ________________________________________________________________________________ Proud winners of Spike's Trophy 2017 Scooby - Born To Run | |

| Great photos Scooby. And I'd forgotten about the results of the quiz. What were they again? Oh yes, team DAZROOB 22, Team WAT 19 - it definitely helps to have the question master and scorer in the family | |

| Thanks guys.
In answer to your question Scooby, it's a Canon Powershot G10 - at least three years old now, but was a milestone "pro-sumer" camera as it combines full manual override, RAW capture, multiple program options with a 14.7mpixel CCD - pretty much a top end spec (for the time) SLR in a compact body. Liz was looking for SLR functions that she is used to without the weight and bulk. Unfortunately Canon actually reduced the spec of the subsequent G11 but the current G12 would be a good substitute.
