Been a while since I've asked a stoopid question, so ...
Given we've all got roughly the same dish washing arrangements, what do y'all use as a receptacle for waste water from the sink?
I know there are big purpose-made RV-style plastic jerry cans, but that's a lot of space used up while travelling with something big and not very pleasant.
Then there are collapsing buckets, but these seem to either be too small or a little too 'collapsible'.
Finally, there are plastic collapsible water carriers, but these don't seem to last very long before springing leaks.
We're currently using a big bucket which lives in the buddy seat and can at least fit stuff inside during travelling, but it's not that nice having a big heavy open bucket of grey stuff just waiting to spill.
We just use an ordinary 2 gallon bucket. Very useful to have something with an open top to hold wet / damp /soiled items when moving on eg. hook-up cable, towels, kettle, shoes. We have a Diamond layout so it travels securely in the space between kitchen unit and R&R bed, held in place by our picnic basket. Have been looking for a suitable bucket with a lid - no luck so far osg

We have a very old grey waste container from my father-in-laws caravan days, which is not so big as the new jerry can size ones, but still larger than needed. I have been keeping an eye open for something better, but so far havent seen anything. I always presumed an empty bucket would catch the wind, so dismissed that.
i use collapsable bucket and use a small bungee hooked around handle (and hooked to van underside|) to prevent premature collapsing, seems to work reasonable well but dont tend to use sink too much.

hi all, there is a £10 or less water waste containers from halfords which are the best as they have a side entry for waste pipe and top screw top exit to aid emptying simple. Sealing both the screw tops, keep it smell free if stored in van.

We have a similar 10l jerry from Halfords that seems to work well but still on the look out for a better solution.
One of the Kombis at Camper Jam last year - Roobarb I think - had a large black jerry that was free standing when in use and bungeed to the underside when on the move. Probably wouldn't work on a lowered Kombi though.

Don't tend to generate much grey water as if on a site generally wash up using thier facilities. If we are wild camping I recycle, straight into the ground, help the grass grow, before anyone says anything, I use a 'friendly' degradeable detergent. As a gardener, the worst thing you can water your plants with is tap water, full of flouride and other chemical enhancement, not 'organic'.

We use one of those waste engine oil containers to catch any grey water gurgling out of Eva. On a camp site though, we just wander off to the washing up area to splash and mix with other campers and to listen to BBC Radio 2 that is piped to your basin.

This is where our water and grey water lives, don't need to rememmber to remove it when we move off campsite for the day and great when your out and about being on holiday or just a day out no water dribbling from underneath your kombi.

Bucket with lid -- so obvious now you say it. Have to start looking at nappy bins, I guess ... at least until someone invents a collapsible version of the big jerrycan thingy.
