I just wanted to update you on both our online and offline activity. The campervan season is well underway now and there’s a lot of discussion on the forum about getting the Kombis ready for trips away and where people are planning to go. Don’t forget there’s a wealth of useful information in the Maintenance/Technical section to help you get your New T2 in top shape for your forthcoming adventures. Also in the Showroom there are links to companies specialising in Kombi maintenance, parts and accessories. BraziBays love new gifts!! Maybe you’re thinking of giving your Kombi a makeover this year? We hit a tremendous milestone this week – we ticked over 400 registered members on the site. Over half are already driving a New T2 and a good proportion of the remainder are prospective owners. I am continually delighted by the shared enthusiasm members have for our BraziBays. In a world where fuel costs are having a detrimental effect on the value of any vehicle that returns low mpg, the Brazilian Kombi, especially the Watercooled variant, is growing in favour for its retro appeal combined with good fuel economy. The option to fit modern day features such as power steering are certainly improving the Kombi’s desireability to people who would otherwise have overlooked it.
Once a month we now have Live BraziBanter – which is online chat – where we discuss pretty much anything live as if we were all down the pub. It’s great fun and you don’t have to drive home after – the next one will be from 7pm on Tuesday April 3rd. Do join us if you can.
The club has its first display of the season this coming weekend at the Volksworld Show. We’ve got 5 terrific BraziBays on our stand each day and I know that a lot of members are planning to attend the show as visitors too. We’ll be serving Kenco’s 100% Brazilian coffee all day – pop over for a free cup. Just look for the Brazilian flags in the club display area. I look forward to meeting a lot of you in person. My thanks to the members who are giving up their time and Kombis for the club this weekend. Last year was a blast – this year’s looking even better.
Shortly after, we’ve our dedicated club event The Kombi Sleepover on June 23rd at the same location as last year: Anita’s Camping Park in Banbury, Oxfordshire. It was a roaring success in 2011 and already for this year we have 23 confirmed BraziBays attending. There’s room for more if you want to join us.
