Just returned from two weeks in Scotland, including a visit to the islands of Arran and Islay. The campsite at Lochranza on the north of Arran is highly recommended, though the state of the island's roads to get there is not! The campsite is well appointed with decent facilities, very helpful owner from Yorkshire, and some surprise visitors:
On the isle of Islay, there's only one campsite that we found, a community run site at Port Charlotte, a very pretty lochside setting which could be used for some brochure pictures if you were a marketing person. Islay itself also has eight distilleries:

Some great pics on this Blog: Skooby Blue
I love Arran - been cycling there a few times and across to Kintyre - sailing there in September on my co-MD's small yacht which he's moved to Largs from Windermere for this season.
The plan is to sail to Arran then on through the Crinan Canal. I'm not a water lover but really looking forward to it.

Love Islay - would like to go back there with a camper - last time we were camping in a tent. And we still haven't visited all the destileries....

One small bonus is that CalMac (the ferry company) charge T2s the same as a car.
If you're planning to visit the distilleries at Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Jura, Lagavulin or Laphroaig then go to their website in advance and register as a member of their fan club and you will get extra free samples and/or free tours when you go.
Oh, and yes, we did go to all eight Islay distilleries. But I thought that pictures of the van at each one would be pushing things a bit far!
Enjoy,
CHRIS

Great pics. Kintyre is a favourite haunt of ours and the next time we are up that way we intend to add Arran to our must visit list. Cheers.

Great tips, thanks! Definitely we will be back - we really enjoyed it last time! We've been there in winter (and camping in a tent ) - some of distilleries were closed but on the other hand it had that great out- of-season feel. And the guy who was showing us around Ardbeg was in such a good mood seeing any visitors that he poured us double shots of 25y old Lord of Isles for testing
