| Fantastic weekend. Thank you very much for everything Daz & Claire.
In classic Brazi fashion we made it to Skye after a trip to GSF for new wheel bearings and an afternoon under the bus!

| We stayed on Skye for the first few days. Camping outside my sister-in-laws hire cottage at Torrin, then moving up (when they went home) to Dunvegan. Skye is beautiful and the tour of the Talisker Distillery wasn't too shabby either (from what I can remember...). Next we travelled to Gairloch on the west coast, followed by a great little campsite near Lochinver, where we drove the "mad road of Sutherland" on our scooter - just breathtaking. From Lochinver we moved on to Durness, then Dunnet Bay from where we obviously had to do Dunnet Head and John o' Groats to bag the furthest points north (to make the set with previously done Lands' End and Lizard point). We then travelled down to Fortrose on the Moray Firth to see the Dolphins running the tide (spectacular), then headed to Braemar in the Cairngorms National Park. By that time, the weather was starting to turn, so instead of travelling home via a couple of stops on the east coast, followed by a cross country run to Oban, we decided to spend the last few days near Kendal so that I could get back onto the trail of a decent Cumberland sausage - I failed!
In all around 1700 miles in Roobarb and a further 300 on the scooter.
We have been lucky enough to travel to many places around the world, and yet we've only just discovered some of the worlds most stunning scenery and wildlife on our own island! We loved it so much that we are already planning a return trip next year.

| Sounds great - we stayed at Dunvegan as well. If you're going again you've got to do the Outer Hebrides. The scooter would be ace for travelling around the islands. Island Hopping I can only imagine how good Liz's photos would be on Harris. ________________________________________________________________________________ Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

| Yes, we've thought the same Martin - a lot cheaper to take the scooter over on a ferry than Roobarb too! | |

| The ferry prices are a bit odd. We got the Hopscotch ticket I think which was fine but when I added the trailer they wanted the same price for it as the van - so we went without the trailer! ________________________________________________________________________________ Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

| For those who get the Camping & Caravaning magazine on page 58/59 there is a fab pic of Barmouth Bridge and a little article about The Wales Coast Path. Barmouth featured in the Daz Dub Doo - look back through this thread for details. What a FAB weekend it was ________________________________________________________________________________ Proud winners of Spike's Trophy 2017 Scooby - Born To Run | |
