We use a dog ground stake as all sites require dogs to be on leads at all times. You just screw it into the ground then attach a long piece of rope between it and the dog. Handy stash of poop bags as they will always go in the most awkward place

Second the ground spike - an essential bit of dog kit. We found that Barney's regular dog bowls took up lots of precious storage space so we opted for these collapsible ones. Made by Outwell and available on Amazon.

The ground spikes are great, we bought a couple of bungie ties from poundland rather than use rope as we found they were better for them and didn't tug too much. Also make sure the dog is secure in the van when travelling, we have two seat belt leads which lock in the seat belt thingy and then secure to their harness, this stops them from flying around when cornering at speed and braking.

We did a "trial run" with our dogs by doing an overnight stay at a fairly closeby site, so if they werent happy we could pack up and be home promptly. As it was, they loved it and were worn out and slept in the awning all night!

Definitely the ground stake, ideally 2, one to leave on site, the other to carry with you. You can buy tie out cables to use with them - very strong! Carry plenty of toys & treats, great for distracting a dog up to mischief! & just enjoy, it can be limiting, but they definitely enhance your life! Found a very dog friendly site in Cornwall - Treveague Farm in Gorran. Near to 3 dog friendly beaches & they let us take Poppy, our Border Terrier into their little cafe there. She also got treated to tit bits of their own organic beef - doggy heaven!

The dogs are the reason we have a campervan, makes holidays so much easier. Our youngest, Luna, loves her crate. It has a little water bowl attached to the side and blankets and toys inside, importantly it means she is secure when we are travelling and sits in the boot section of the bus. It normally goes in the awning but when the awning isn't up, the crate can fit on the shelf when the roof is up. This year, it was a very handy kennel and provided shade from the roasting Scottish sun!
Again agree with all suggestions above - stake, extra lead, dog towel and plenty of poo bags!

We fill Innocent juice bottles with water. They have a big lid, and are great for watering your small dog when on the move. The also have a big opening, so your dog may just prefer to drink from the bottle.

We take our 3 dogs with us when camping. Usually they put us in the corner o fthe site, which helps as you can then put wind breakers up, which allows some type of garden and more security. Good campsites- Damage Barton - Woolacombe, The Willows - Abersoch, Wheel Rodney - Cornwall, Old Oak Touring Park - adults only, but have a dog run, plus a shower block by the dog run to cool down your dogs - Glastonbury. We also use the cables and stakes, however they do not go far, usually resting after long day out.
