A word of warning Timmm so as not to spoil your weekend, watch out for sneaky speed cameras.
At the risk of causing much merriment in the ranks, I arrived home today to find a NIP on my doormat alleging I was doing 36 in a 30 limit at Hanley Swan on the B4209 as you leave the Three Counties Showground.
The reason I'm slightly miffed is that a Range Rover coming the other way was flashing like mad in the 60 limit, so I knew it was there, then I went into the 40 limit, and shortly afterwards into the 30 limit, checking my speedo all the time. (and yes my speedo is accurate, I've double checked with a GPS, and a stopwatch against marker posts)
So tomorrow I am going to check with the 'Safer Roads Partnership' of West Mercia Police on a couple of points before I decide what to do next.
One..... Can you operate a Laser LT1 20-20 through blackened glass, (because the vehicle didn't have its rear window open)
Two..... Is it accurate when it is chucking it down with rain. (The cut off for prosecution is 35 mph)
I'd also like to see the photographic evidence as hopefully that will show whether I was in the 40 or 30 limit, (both visible from the vehicle, its a straight road).
(All the above are against ACPO guidelines as far as I'm aware)
I don't think I will get very far, but I'm tempted to give it a go, the only embarrassment is that I could appear before either someone who posts on here, or my cousin, who resides in Hanley Castle (although I think he's retired from the bench now).
Rant over, but it irks when I don't think I was guilty and there ain't much I can do about it. Looks like I will have to bite the bullet and accept what's coming.
Sorry about that, have a good time Timmm and anyone else who is going to Malvern.
