At least you'll have something nice to sit in while you wait for someone to recharge your batteries.

I've a 2 tonne SUV that is battery driven. It does have a 2 litre petrol engine but that is used to generate electricity for the batteries, although at speeds over 76 it (allegedly) does go into direct drive as well, as the motors don't produce enough power to go that fast. At my last petrol fill-up, my third since getting the car in Jan, I returned 89mpg and my average is 74mpg. Not bad for 1600 miles of predominantly town driving.
And yes, I do carry a cable for campsite charging
