We have had six and a half years of bay ownership, many happy days on holidays, trips and sites from one end of the country to the other, many cheerful waves and smiles. Ownership became a hobby! Unfortunately I also have had to spend a considerable amount of money and time keeping our bay on the road - repairs, servicing and rust repairs. The on-going worry of this begins to tell after a while! We have had amazing support from this forum which we will never forget Thank you Tim and the team and keep it going!
However I decided finally that enough is enough and last week we (sadly) sold our yellow bay. I am now looking for a modern vehicle which will require less worry and hopefully be more reliable! Based on our experience - we have no regrets - we have learned a lot, had great fun. (However my advice to a company converting Brazilian imports in the south-west would be - if you ever convert another Bazilian Bay could you start by properly rust-proofing every compartment before starting the conversion and properly paint and protect every hole you drill into metal!!
I would like to keep looking at this site to keep in touch with what has been a great time
I'm surprised at 2011 Aqua was needing so much done. My van was made in late 2003 and is only just starting to look like she will need some work done to sort out rust in a couple of panels. And of course the rear bumper which is on the way out.

Hi I have just read your message and sometimes feel the same. I spent almost £3,000 on rust repairs two years ago and it was only 6 years old! Plus ss exhaust/water pipes and I had it wax oiled from new!!
The thing is I'm divorced now and a replacement T5 or T6 is just too much money for me living on a pension. Out of interest did you sell your van back to Danbury? Keep us informed on what you finally buy All the best Bob
