| I've noticed Custom and Commercial are now stocking 2 BraziBay specific roof racks.
C&C 3 bow roof rack
C&C 2 bow roof rack
We should get their 10% Club discount too. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

True. But now it looks like you can get a decent looking large rack that won't grind against the bodywork. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

| Has anyone bought the two bow from Custom and Commercial and do you have any pics?
The VWHeritage and this one looks very similar what are advantages or disadvantages of each has anyone seen both?
Really fancy one for the 2012 summer season

| Hi Skytiger, Dizzy came with a roof rack (picture under Bay buffing, pop top cleaning) which appears to be the same as C and C, although VW heritage looks identical as well. The cross bows are chrome and clean easily, the wooden slats are hardwood, and I give them a couple of coats of yacht varnish yearly. The upper metal frame goes grey quite quickly, but buffs up well with solvol autosol. I cut up old cycle inner tubes to protect the paintwork where the rack clamps to the gutter. If there is a drawback, the only minor one is that the slats are in a curve, so if you want to carry anything like a box with a hard flat bottom, it doesn't sit flat, although its fine for soft items like tents etc. Hope this helps. | |

| Thanks Dizzy, they both do look like identical racks but hard to tell from pictures on the websites.
VW Heritage say Stainless Steel but C and C say Stainless steel chrome finished, what do you think the upper metal frame is made of?
Good idea with the inner tubes though will use that one and will give the slats a coat when I decide which one to get.

| The upper frame appears to be made up of two different metals Skytiger. I don't think the rods are stainless as they go slightly grey over time. The corner pieces and the uprights are cast (aluminium alloy of some sort maybe?) but as I say they do polish up. | |

| These are different from mine Skytiger, looking on vw-online Karman Konnection vw parts, it looks as though upper parts are aluminium as I said. CC's look all chrome so should be easier to clean. (whilst searching, I found a site where a guy had built a roof rack to a pop top, I appreciate it is for a westfalia, but I know someone was looking to fit a rack to carry surfboards that wouldn't rip the roof off, and this site may give some scope for thought, Vanagon Westfalia Roof Rack System. | |
