More advice on options for my new Danbury SE

Guys and Girls,

Thank you for the swift replies to my last queries. Greatly appreciated.

I have some other queries as well if anyone can offer yet more advice to a Kombi novice.

1. I will have 2 seats in the back. Do people have 3 point seat belts or 4 point seat belts for those passengers?

2. Can I purchase the raising roof double bed for cheaper than £399 anywhere?

3. Can I purchase a main hook cable for cheaper than £29?

4. Does anyone know where I can purchase chrome door handles for the side doors, sliding door and back door, plus with the chrome finger plate anti scratch pads?

5. does anyone know where can purchase chrome rims/trims that go down the side of the Kombi separating the two colour schemes?

Hello Evo, we have 2 lap belts in the back.

check the length of the hookup cable, when we got ours from Danbury it was much to short to be of much use. If i remember right it was a 10m cable which unless you are pitched next to the box is not long enough, you want 20 or 25m. A google seach for electric hook up cable will give you price info

Do people think that the lap belts are sufficient for young children????

Lap belts arent realy sufficient for anyone, but are better than nothing. At the time of our purchase, replacing them was an expensive option and we needed to keep the cost down as it can get mighty expensive. Also our children were teenagers at the time, so we had less concerns

The roof bed has come up for discussion before, if you do a forum search for roof bed you will find a recent question with a link to roof boards from an older post

1. Get Danbury to fit 3 point inertia reel seat belts in the back if you have young kids.

2. Ref Matt's advice - this is discussed elsewhere on the site - you can make your own for significantly less.

3. Have a look at Towsure.co.uk - they sell bags of campervan related accessories. A 25 metre hook up cable from them is £28.50.

4. VW parts suppliers such as C&C can supply you with chrome versions of all the door handles etc - but I would advise against this for now. All the lock barrels will need to be swapped across to fit the Kombi keys. Get to know your BraziBay first, then start adding the niceties.

5. You can purchase the Deluxe trim from a variety of VW parts suppliers but I would strongly discourage you from fitting this. Reason: it requires you to drill a hefty number of holes in the centre body line of the campervan, which then take clips for the trim to sit on. Not only are you introducing new holes for water to get into the inner cavities of your Kombi but screw up any of those holes and the trim won't sit right. My opinion of course.

What length is best???

Don't know what length Danbury supply but I started with a 10m cable and it has proved insufficient on a number of occasions so now I've got a 25m version.

25m is best, alot of sites have 4 pitches sharing so you could be quite away from it. Ours fits in the gas cupboard for storage, just coiled up. What you dont want is to not have enough, to long is fine, to short...........no power.
Safety advice- if you buy a cable drum or holder to wrap it round for storage, always unwind it completely from it before using. The cables can generate alot of heat and if they are wound in multiple layers when plugged in they can generate enough to catch fire, so always unwind completely even if you dont need the total length.

It's either the famous and popular sky blue/aqua blue OR I want a darker metallic blue...............

And then I need to choose imteriors!!!!!

You might be able to find some trim that sticks to the side. Something like THIS

Purple's good and fits into the rainbow...

Have a good look through the Spectrum section of our Gallery and also the gallery on Danbury's site. Go with the colour that makes you go 'yeah' inside.

Our dilemma with the interior is:

1. We would really like a metallic darkish blue exterior but we can't decide on the Danbury options in terms of the colour of the nits. Normal light brown or something different?
2. We adore the sky blue campervan exterior and love the fact they give you the choice of the sky blue units inside, which we think just looks amazing

But deep down we want metallic blue exterior............................

Hmmmmmm??????
