| The darker months are here and I've decided to upgrade Max's bulbs to Philips X-Treme Power H4s. They were very reasonably priced at £22.25 from Powerbulbs.com. I'll let you know about the improvement. Anyone else upgraded their lights? I was contemplating some daytime running lights too ... but it's not as if a Bay is difficult to miss is it??!! ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |

| Hi Tim
I also have fitted Phillips X_-T powers but the halogen blue version (better on european roads with no cats eyes) well anyway no sure if it is the same in the UK but i tend to get a set each year from Lidl they seem to stock them around this time and last year two sets cost me 12 euros for both
6 euro a set
reason for two sets is that you have to have a set in a vehicle in europe all the time as a spare
Might be worth checking if Lidl UK also ever sell them

| I'm glad others have replaced the bulbs as this is one of the next things I want to do. I just wanted to check to see if they were H4's. The existing bulbs are shocking I think I'll go for some Osram Night Breaker bulbs as I upgraded the TME lights to these and they were a million times better than the stock ones they came with it (and that's a performance car ) I might as well with the lights coming off for the other bits and pieces ________________________________________________________________________________ | |

| I think TimV may have changed his bulbs to blue in the past on the dash but i dont think it improved the brightness from what i can remember. I stand to be corrected on that tho! mine have a faint glow and thats about it! you can adjust the brightness by turning the headlamp knob but as best they are not great... | |

| You're right Baydreamer, I did switch my dash bulbs for led ones. You can read about it here: Dash lightsThey are slightly brighter than standard, plus you lose the ability to adjust the brightness. However I prefer them as they mix in well with the lighting on the dvd/radio. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |

| I do like the idea of them matching the dvd/radio.
Could you just upgrade the bulbs for some super bright LEDs baydreamer if you want a little more light?
Maybe there wouldn't be too much difference from the brightest bulb setting though? ________________________________________________________________________________

| Ok, so I know our headlights aren't the best and I've already upgraded to the Powerbulbs ones, but would still like something with a better vision in evenings.
I think I'd seen that some people have added auxiliary lights and wondered about the pros and cons of brighter headlight bulbs versus adding additional lights (preferably LEDs).
Thoughts please?
