Tallulah & Baylee in the mud

We had heard a rumour that URmysunshine was taking Baylee to Wellington Country Park for an inaugural camping trip AND an 8th birthday treat so we decided to take Tallulah along as an extra birthday surprise and to offer moral support and company (drinking buddies...) - it's only 10mins from us!

We hadn't booked but didn't expect any capacity issues due to the time of year and weather conditions, and arrived at approx 2pm. Baylee was already on site and we asked for a pitch close by. The closest pitch was described as "a bit soggy" so we took the next one along, two pitches from Baylee and we snuck in unnoticed - quite a challenge with a Yellange bus!

With Tallulah parked and the kettle on, we sent our 'package' in for a surprise attack - we're a bit like Thunderbirds now, with yellange mini-vehicles ready to launch at a moments notice!



The surprise attack was followed up by well earned cups of tea for all adults and when everyone was ready we headed off into the park to have a look round.

WCP has lots of children friendly facilities including multiple playgrounds/adventure parks, a petting zoo, ride on train and dinosaur trail, all sort around a fishing lake (or two) with foot paths all round. Campsite guests get free access to the park for the duration of their stay and can ride bikes in the park once it has closed for the evening (5:30pm).

As the light began to fade we headed back to the campers to prepare food and get the kids cleaned up - and dried out!

We spent the next few hours in Baylee's awning with cider, wine, nibbles (computer gadgets and juice for the kids) and proceeded to chat about all the adventures we have had and plan to have in the coming months.

It rained pretty solidly for most of the night but that didn't stop the wildlife making their normal night time noises - you get used to it after a while. Some even bigger puddles to ride through next morning and after another visit to the park - open to the public this time - and more mud and antics we headed home around lunch time leaving us enough time at home to give everything a good clean and polish.
