Subject: Advice wanted about selling my Brazi bay. Mon Jan 04, 2016 11:55 am
No this is not an advert for selling my camper van, I’m not ready for that yet.
If anyone offers me a price here I’ll ignore them! I’m after information on the mechanics of selling, not for the cunning to grab a cheap bargain at my expense.
I don’t have a lot of experience in selling vehicles, normally I take them to the scrap yard after 15 years or so.
Where should I sell my camper van? I’ve been suggested places like e-bay, and autotrader, but do they work? Is there anywhere else I should be looking?
How much is it worth? As much as a vender is willing to pay, I know, but how much is that, where do I get an idea of its value.
What should I do to it first? I thought I would give it a good clean, inside and out, but other than that? What else?
Someone suggested an AA report, I’m loathed to go down route as I’m sure they’ll treat it like a brand new vehicle and not as a vehicle which stopped improving 40 years ago.
When it comes to handing over the keys to the nice gentlemen who promise to make me a millionaire next week, what should I be careful of?

I wouldn't dismiss putting an advert on here. It's a specialist vehicle so where better than a specialist website. I'm sure Tim could give you an idea to the value of your vehicle If you want to take the hassle out of it VW kampers do a sale or return but obviously they will need a cut.

Hi,
We have some options for selling at Brazilian Kampers.
Sale or return will give you the highest return, we can advertise the camper at whatever price you think is correct and will take 10% of the sale price.
We will then sell the camper on your behalf and offer the new owner a 3 months warranty, service, 12 months MOT, full check over and 8 hour professional valet with upholstery shampoo and polish to the paint work.
We can arrange for your camper to be collected FOC from your house to make it a very simple option.
We can also buy your camper outright, this is the quickest option but will offer you the lowest return.
More details can be found here http://www.braziliankampers.co.uk/sell-us-camper-van/
Tim from this site can value your camper if you wanted to as he knows the market well!

There can be no better place for selling your Kombi than on this Forum - it has the target audience and it's free. With regard to other locations there are plenty you may wish to consider (you have mentioned some) but we would suggest you only use them to check on availability, to compare specifications and prices - TimV can provide you with a valuation. Obviously a good valet of your Kombi is essential, but also completing any minor works that would detract from the vehicles potential selling price should in our opinion be undertaken prior to selling (ie. if the MOT runs out shortly, get a new one).
TimV has produced a buyers guide - see link below - which should be helpful in highlighting things for you to look out for.

Danbury offer either selling on your behalf or we can buy outright with funds transferred into your bank account. We have the biggest shop window in the uk and the biggest advertising budget of any brazi bay dealer so often sell very quickly . We are trading standards approved too . We often have customers waiting and can offer the buyer our full range of services should they wish to change the specification / colour etc etc . Just email contact@danburymotorcaravans.com for help either way

Thank you everyone for your comments, they are greatly appreciated.
I'll have to sit and cogitate for a couple of days to work out my next steps.
