Bodywork recommendation wanted Empty
PostSubject: Bodywork recommendation wanted   Bodywork recommendation wanted EmptyThu Dec 01, 2016 10:17 pm

Hi All

The left rear wing on our air-cooled 2004 van has finally succumbed to rot, and lots of it. It needs the lower part of the old panel cutting out, a new panel welding in and re-spraying. Can anyone recommend anywhere in the Midlands and is there anyone who might give an idea of approximate costs. Thanking you in advance for any comments.

Julian

I have been to Border Restoration - situated between Shrewsbury & Welshpool they specialise in restoring and repairing old VW campers (splits, bays and now Brazilian)
They worked on our rusty wheel arches - cut out the rot and welded in new metal, finished off and resprayed - a great job.
In their workshop they were rebuilding several old vehicles - stripping them down to bare metal and prefabricating what was missing and achieving fantastic results - true labours of love.
They work out of farm buildings made into their workshops
They are very approachable and will consider any challenge
Speak to Michelle and Marc - 01743 884655,  or 07870808076

I have been very pleased with all the work they did for me and will definitely go there again - if I have to!

Thanks for that. Could you give me an idea of how much they charged?

Hi - sadly i need a bodywork recommendation for our campervan. Unfortunately managed to scrape the rear, passenger side panel above the wheel arch as i squeezed past some dustbins on a narrow road in Devon!. Paint isn't badly damaged but there is a linear dent - about 18 inches long. Any suggestions welcome for the most cost effective way to repair? We live in Birmingham so if anyone knows of somewhere local that would help!

Any decent bodyshop should be able to sort that out - the panel is relatively straight. Do a Google search on bodyshops close to you and check their reviews.
