| We are going to Glastonbury this year - just wondered if anyone has gone, and were able to use an awning?
Any other Glasto tips would be useful too...
Thanks! |

| Take a small kids padding pool to have a quick wash in and an awning (your allowed to put up an awning)! A few hot kettles in there and believe me after a few days it feels like luxury! Take a porta potti too! No ques and your the king of the castle! Also dont forget to pack summer clothes and shoes ASWELL as wet weather gear and WELLIES! You'll be surprised by the amount of people we see each year not prepared for a complete weather change! Sun tan lotion aswell. NO Glass bottles etc are allowed on site and they do check you when you are driving in! We couldnt get tickets this year so will try when they re - release unsold/unpaid ones and may see you there (hopefully!) |

| Thanks for the info!
Campervan tickets are released tomorrow - so I hope we get one! I have hedged my bets and booked a campsite 5 mins walk from the festival also.
Are the festival stewards ok if our non campervan friends pitch tents behind the bus?
Good luck for the re-release! |

| I don't think you're supposed to pitch tents in the campervan field, but I've got away with it in the past (was travelling in the van to the festival tho). |

| The awning is definitely a good idea - make sure you tell the stewards its a large awning when they're parking you up - that way you'll get a bit more space, eve if you don't put it up. We took ours but didn't bother putting it up last year cos it was so hot! We had some friends camp with us in the campervan field last year, no problem. Only one tent tho. Those cheap portable showers were pretty good aswell. Last year we arrived late on Wednesday night and drove straight in - no queues at all. If I had tickets for this year, I'd be doing the same... ( Definitely the way to do Glasto, tho! I'll be trying the resale too. |

| Thanks Tilly and Andy
I got a camper ticket yesterday - so I have a spare spot at Ashcombe Farm campsite, which is 200 yards from the orange gate. If any of you get a ticket on the 17th, but find there are no campevan tickets left, let me know.

| Did anyone get a ticket in the re-sale?
I have a 86Ah leisure battery in Ted, and concious that 6 days at glastonbury will run it flat.
Are you aloud to turn the eninge over for a few minutes every other day? And would this put much charge back into the leisure battery?
Glastonbury will be Ted's maiden camping voyage, so I am a bit clueless to the longevity (in real terms) of the battery.

| in my experience the battery needs a good charge through the mains before you set off overnight-i have a charger set with clip on leads to the battery and i clip the charger to it before i go away for overnight charging.it charges from the mains of my house and saves taking the battery out. I think it will last about two or three days but starting the engine and ticking over wont be enough to keep the fridge on as a lot of energy is used to get the van started. Tim once said to me that you need at least 20mins drive time to compensate for starting up. there is a thread on this and worth a look under' leisure battery'. i dont know if keeping things in a cool bag overnight and turning the fridge off might help on power saving overnight at all?
just so you know i drive my van everyday six miles to work and its not enough to keep the leisure battery charged all the time
hope this helps Paul |

| Are you going to run a fridge off the leisure battery Jamie? If so what sort? If you haven't already bought one I'd highly recommend a standalone unit such as a Royale which you could run off a gas cylinder - fridge outside of your Kombi - for days on end.
Here's one on ebay:
Royale 3 way fridge
If it's just cabin lighting you're using then if you've fully charged your leisure battery before then you'll probably get up to 6 days use out of it. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportzKombi - The Bay Racer Danbury Rio Poptop |

| I'm not going have the fridge running at Glasto- went for a waeco crp40 in the end. Got a good price 2nd hand on eBay.
I think I just have to be power careful during those 5 or 6 days, if turning the engine over won't help.
Just wired in a 240v hook up - so will make sure it gets a good charge before we head off.

| You could always take a spare charged battery if your worried (and a spanner to swap it over if needed)
Has anyone ever taken a small generator before ? |

| Tallulah is going to Glastonbury!
She's been hired for the week by a couple who were let down by another Camper Hire company who cancelled their booking last week without giving any reasons. |

Sorry Bd - nope it won't - it's too wide. It takes up the same space as a regular buddy box behind the front right seat.________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportzKombi - The Bay Racer Danbury Rio Poptop |

| Generators aren't allowed unfortunately.
Considered some solar panels (from maplin), as well as a spare battery.
Just thought the extra weight and cost wasn't worth it. Plus the weather is looking dodgy, so might not need anything cooled!
Hope to see lots of Brazilian Bays there, including Tallulah!! |
