| There's quite a variation in price both new and second hand of BraziBays when it comes to the spec of the vehicle.
I'm interested to see how significant a feature/option of your Bus is to you. Here's a poll with multiple options for you to tick.
Let's see what you've got. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

| A few comments: Poptop: I’m not a midget, and standing upright is nice. RHD conversion & lowered suspension: Most of the time it’s driven in the UK so RHD is obvious, but lowered? I don’t care… Sink, Gas hob, Cooker, Fridge: The point is this is ideal for weekend away, and this is the bare bones of what you need camping (glamping) Buddy seat: Great for sitting round a table, but as a porta loo? I’m male - the world is my toilet, if it’s for number 2s, then I don’t want someone carping in my van…. Swivel front seat: I’ve got one, but it’s the biggest waste of money I’ve every seen. Chrome Pack: Shiny Rear Wheel Carrier: Well where else would you carry it? Roof rack: The metal bars are 7 feet apart - too far apart for anything - they are just for show, and as the are on fibreglass too weak for any weight. Waste of money. 240V hook up & leisure battery: Ideal for weekends away. On-board DVD: something for somebody to nick, portable players are cheaper and can be kept out of sight. | |

| Poptop - Couldn't live without it. Extra storage and being able to stand up straight. RHD - Makes things easier driving in the UK, Pitty the sliding door is on the wrong side. Lowered - Looks so much better IMO Alloys - Look nice but not on my list prefer the coloured hubs Full width bed - Like to sprawl out Sink, Hob - Essential Cooker - Not going to cook a roast so Hob is more than enough, Fridge - OK to keep beers cold but not essential IMO Buddy Seat - Excellent for storage don't need a portaloo, travelJohns are the way to go. Swivel front seat - Not needed, have buddy seat. Chrome Pack - Looks good but too hard to keep clean, will stick with white trim DubTub - Something a bit different than the venetian blind covering the front. Rear Wheel Carrier - Not fussed either way Roof Rack - Looks Good but don't really need one. PAS - That's just being lazy Increaced Cupboard Space - Takes up too much room. Leisure Battery - Essential 240 hookup - Cheating DVD - Never. I'm on holiday. NO TV! ________________________________________________________________________________ Ginger man without a ginger van

| Some of the reasons for us getting our spec.......
Poptop - Yes, dont like the look of it but it is nice to be able to stand. RHD - Yes, not essential but as an everyday drive felt it was worth getting. Lowered - No, i like the original just as much and the price needs to be kept down. Alloys - No, i like the originals and its no sports car. Bed - 3/4 wanted the extra storage, and its sufficiant and cosy. Sink - Yes, a must Hob - Yes an essential. Cooker - No, a luxury that wouldnt get used much and takes out storage. Fridge - Yes, a luxury that is well worth having. Buddy seat - Yes, extra storage and good for seating around the table. Swivel front seat - No, as the passanger seat cant be turned your better off with the buddy. Chrome pack - No, minimise the expense, looks nice but prone to rust. Dudtub - No, expense saver here and looks naff. Rear wheel carrier - No, bike rack instead (sorry Tim, clicked yes by accident in poll). Roof Rack - No, kept expense down, but would like to get one for looks alone. PAS - No, way to expensive. Rio - Yes, wanted the storage. 240 hookup - Yes, its a campervan not a tent. Leisure battery - Yes. DVD - No, if i wanted to watch tv i would have stayed at home. Independent heater - No. wanted one till we saw the price, couldn't justify paying that much. Wish we had, i could justify it now. ________________________________________________________________________________ Matt.

| No independent heater on the options list is surely an oversight!
Currently it's my number 1 option.

| Look's like the 'gas hob's' taken the lead over a poptop! I guess it's all to do with making a cuppa - plus simply boiling a kettle heats the interior of the Bay up superbly. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |

Warm Me, warm the van and warm the water, 3 birds with one stone. ________________________________________________________________________________ Ginger man without a ginger van

| This is brilliant work everyone. Thank you.
So analysing the data, so far it looks like we have a top 5 consisting of:
1. Poptop 2. Gas hob/Leisure Battery (joint) 4. 240v hook-up 5. Sink/Fridge (joint) 7. Right Hand Drive Conversion
If you have a BraziBay that has these on its spec list then you have a highly desirable Kombi. If you're currently speccing a new Kombi or modifying a used one, this list should indicate to you what others rate on their T2s and therefore should help to maintain its value.
We'll keep the poll running and see if perceptions change over time. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

The next highest item on the list is 'Full width R/R bed' This might help those choosing at Danbury. Do I get a Diamond or a Rio?

| We like the following: Pop top - must for us RHD - must for us Ind heater - must for us Leisure battery - must for us 240v hook up - must for us Lowered with alloys and chrome pack - we have but not essential Sink, hob & fridge - a must - no need for a cooker Rio layout & cupboard space - must for us Sun Roof - must for us Front spare location - allows rear bike rack Roof rack - not essential but we do use and like it Heated front & rear screens - good - we are in the UK after all Most other items would appear not necessary (unless we have forgotten any thing) That seems to be all ________________________________________________________________________________ Proud winners of Spike's Trophy 2017 Scooby - Born To Run | |

| Hi Scooby - You can still have a rear bike rack (holds up to 4 bikes and fits onto the tow bar) and the spare wheel on the back (and still have the tow ball itself free to tow a trailer!) | |

| Poptop - its where our 6yo sleeps at night, extra storage and headroom during the day. IMO a must have. RHD - Makes things easier driving in the UK. Lowered - i agree with Kiteman, looks so much better, and improves handling. Alloys - We love our alloys, sets the whole bus off nicely. 3/4 width bed - the extra storage is VERY useful. Sink, Hob - Essential. Fridge - OK but a 3-way fridge might be better if you intend to do more wild camping. Buddy Seat - Excellent for storage and for a portaloo, very useful with young-uns, although no no 2s unless it's an absolute emergency! Chrome Pack - Looks great when shiny but does need a little extra looking after. Leisure Battery - Essential 240 hookup - excellent. DVD - Never! Although we have a small portable that our 6yo watches occasionally.
We also have full leather which looks and smells great, the idea was that it would be easier to keep clean although in hind sight vinyl would have been a cheaper option. Now heading into our first winter, we are starting to regret not having an independant heater - this would extend the camping season. We have an oil filled radiator that we use when hooked up instead. ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark
