Finally done with the resto. Took a while (bubbles turned out to be a lot more than bubbles!!) but all the panels needing attention have been replaced or repaired. All new rubbers/seals etc, then a full respray. Took the time to fit a new interior from Newton Commercial which is looking good (if I do say so myself Wink )

Congratulations on a splendid final result.
Where should we watch out for the worst bubbles?

On Elia they were very obvious round the wheel arches but the bottom of the door and long nearside panels also had issues when we started poking around! Basically the bottom 6 inches! There was also a crusty/rusty spot near where the catch on the tailgate surround is. There were also a few spots on the wheel tubs. All cut out and repaired or the panels replaced. Couple of problem bits we found had obviously been "fixed" before - with filler etc!!
Not cheap to get it all done but rather have it done properly than continually play catch up. Needless to say there is also plenty of underseal now to protect the vulnerable areas - living in Scotland you can't avoid the damp!! Wink

Oh ........ and the chrome on the rear bumper had cracked/failed/been hit with something so we replaced the bumpers but decided to go with paint to match the top-half rather than chrome. I prefer the look and hopefully will last longer.

Marty
Thanks for detailing some of the work needed, though a bit daunting when you sum up as the bottom 6 inches.

What have you put in the side air vents on the dash - they look different

We had a Subaru or Toyota (or something similar) years ago as a hire car which had a little portable ashtray thing which fitted in the cup holder. I took it out as I used the cup holders for my tea in the morning and forgot to put it back and found it years later. Dumped in a drawer and forgotten about until we got Elia.
One of the vent grills was very loose and when I removed it to see why I figured it was the same size as that ashtray in the shed. Found a matching one on EBay, took out the metal cigarette ‘stubber’ inside and they just slot into the hole on the dash. Provides a great wee pocket for change for tolls in France or other little odds and ends (and the lids stop stuff jumping out). The ones below are similar.

That’s the sort of thing yes. You’d need to check the size obviously (I had one lying around so did that before buying another).
