Thanks for the link, it was already on our radar but I think we will have to pass on that because of other family commitments.

Funnily enough we stayed a couple of nights at The Cud Life last year as part of a weeks trip taking in Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay then back through Yorkshire.

I've got sone news about the Northern Meet - coming soon when I've finalised a couple of things...

I've got some news about the Northern Chapter Meet and some options for you all to consider.

We'll be up there from Thursday so if anyone is arriving early you're welcome to join us on a walk along part the Ullswater Way or to Aira Force on Friday morning and early PM.

We'll take the big BBQ which we can use on Fri and Sat nights (weather permitting).

I've found some options for the weekend and would appreciate your thoughts:

1.Ullswater Steamers (WEBSITE LINK)

The Steamers sail from Pooley Bridge which is walkable from the site and you'll see from their website that there are various options regarding routes, sailings, etc. I've spoken to them about a Group discount and they've confirmed that we'd get 15% discount from the full round ticket making it £12.07 rather than £14.20. In addition the organiser goes free so that would reduce the cost still further. The downside is that we would all have to travel on the same trip (there and back) and I'd have to book us on in advance.

As it happens Sat 24th is the Lady of the Lake 140th Birthday Celebrations and everyone sailing on her gets a commemorative gift.



I'm proposing getting the 11.15 sailing from Pooley Bridge (arrives at Glenridding at 12.15) and then the 15.20 boat back, which gives enough time for a potter about and a bite to eat before getting back to Pooley Bridge at 16.20.

I need to pre-book so I'd like you to reply on this thread asap if you'd like me to book you on the boat.

2. Sunday Morning Cruise to Lowther Castle (WEBSITE LINK)

I've spoken to Lowther Castle and they've agreed a group discount and will try and arrange for us all to park together in front of the Castle. The normal cost to visit for adults is £9 but they'll reduce this to £8 for a Group Booking in advance. The Castle is about 6 miles from from the campsite in the direction of the M6 so the cruise should suit those going north and south.



Again, I need to confirm numbers so please let me know if you want to go on the Cruise - I thought we could leave around 11am on Sunday morning.

Finally, could you let me know if there are any children attending and, if so, their ages, if you're joining us on the boat and/or Castle trip.

Any questions, feel free to ask. We've got a few days at the Campsite at the end of this month so we may have a pre-emptive trip to the Castle on the way home to check it out. I know my neighbour went last year and was very impressed. It sounds like a great photo opportunity for the vans.

We will be up for both of these Martin. Sounds great!

Ok everyone, I think I've found us a venue for the 2017 Northern Meet.

I've been trying to get a site in the Lake District, but it's been difficult as most of them won't take groups - mainly because they don't need to, as they get so many bookings throughout the year.

It's looks like I can get us in to Waterside House Campsite if we book early enough. I'm going to speak to them later this week and we'll take a trip up there to check it out.

From this video it looks ideal:



There are 20 pitches with EHU so we'll need to book in, to guarantee that we get one. When I speak to them I'll find out the best way for us to book but at this stage, (and I know it's a long time in the future) it would be useful if you could indicate if you would be interested in attending - I'll set up a Facebook event later when I have more info.

Better late than never, (managed to get leave from work as someone cancelled theirs) we have booked the campsite but no electric pitches left but not a problem, are we still able to book boat and cruise?

That's great news. I'll add you to the list for camping, boat and cruise.

I've now heard from Ullswater Steamers and Lowther Castle and we're booked in with both places. I'll let you have info re payments a bit closer to the Meet.

We're up at the campsite this weekend for a few days so we'll probably try and fit in a visit to Lowther to check it out ahead of the Northern Meet. In the meantime, please think positive thoughts about the mid-summer weather.

We had a great time at Waterside House last weekend and took the opportunity to visit Lowther Castle whilst we were there. For those of you bringing dogs, I'm pleased to tell you that they're allowed anywhere in the grounds, apart from on the fantastic adventure playground. They can also go in the cafe and the shop. One of the highlights for us was spotting a red squirrel in the woodland area - it's ages since I last saw one.





I've paid for all the entries to the Castle (£8 for adults, £6 for children) and I'm waiting for confirmation that we can park in the grassed area right in front of the building. We'll need to leave the campsite on Sunday morning just after 11am. If you're bringing a trailer and want to leave it on site you can use our pitch, as we're staying until Monday.

The Ferry is also booked - we're sailing from Pooley Bridge on Saturday morning at 11.15 (it's about a 45 minute walk so we'll need to set off walking about 10.15 to be on the safe side). I'll have to pay on the day in one amount - it's £12.07 per adult and £6.03 per child. We're booked to sail back from Glenridding at 15.20, giving plenty of time to explore the shops, lake and bars/cafes.



I'm quite happy for you to pay me cash on the day or alternatively you can t/f the money to my account (PM me for bank details) or pay via PayPal friends and family to martin.mrbellamy@btinternet.com
