Scooby took us to Henley Regata for the weekend and what a great time we had
We are a member of the Camping & Caravanning Club, within which there are District Associations that run various events
They also run temporary campsites throughout the year and we attended the Meadows Farm site in Henley - see below
http://www.rcbda.org/documents/meadows_farm.htmlIt was basically a field with a drinking water tap and a chemical disposal point
No toilets no showers no electric - you must have your own "facilities"
It was only £7.50 per unit per night - thats Scooby and 2 adults for just £7.50 per night - what value for money
Scooby did however stand out amongst the normal attendees as can been seen below
Scooby certainly attracted a lot of attention on the site as well as positive comments
The weather was great over the whole weekend - dry sunny and hot (and at the same time as Wimbledon!)
On Saturday we walked into Henley Town, leaving the site around 10.00am (the rowing would not start until 11.00am)
As we were not booked in to any of the various enclosures we next made our way to the tow path to see the races
Semi finals on Saturday and finals on Sunday (11.00am to 4.00pm)
There were many many peope doing the same, laying out blankets and settling down for the day by the river
(On Saturday the racing went on until 7.30pm)
Pims, along with Champagne, were the drinks of choice
As the afternoon turned into a barmy summer evening (and after the races concluded for the day) we made our way back to the campsite for something to eat and drink
Around 10.00pm there would be a firework display and we had a ringside seat - they were being set off in the next field
The entertainment went on late along the river - so we got that all free as well
Sunday was at a slower pace, got up around 8.30am to bright sunshine
After breakfast took a slow walk in to town
Saw this New BraziBay in Waitrose carpark - no owners around - looks like parking sensors in the rear bumper!
We then took a slow walk to the river to watch the finals
Left after lunch to avoid the crowds
Had a great weekend, excellent weather, at a very reasonable cost!
Would recommend it to you all
