| Could you just clarify that the measurements above are including the roof rack, and where they're taken from?
There's a difference of 230mm between the lowered measurement and the normal stock height measurement.
I thought that the vans were lowered by approx 4" (101.6mm)
Are you saying that a lowered bus fitted with this roof rack will only be 1960mm high! doesn't sound right to me.

| Sorry I typed that wrong! With our new Danbury stainless steel roof rack fitted the overall size is: Lowered suspension vehicle : 2085 mm and standard height suspension vehicle is: 2160 mm. This is obviously approx and all cars do have slightly different suspension heights and we can also lower the vehicle more if required. | |

| Hi Den - We are the only ones that make our new larger roof rack and the cost is such because its all hand made and in small numbers. The materials we use are far better than any simular roof rack but you only pay for what you get. Cheap ones made in China weve all seen rust (sometimes after only a few weeks). Our new model larger roof racks are made in the UK (using British skilled labour) from stainless steel and hardwood slats etc so when you see one you'll see the massive difference in quality. Your welcome to call into our factory if ever passing or you may see one at one of the shows we are attending this year. All the best and love your T2 pic in the snow! | |

| Hi Denni - Our 2010 model racks are exclusive to us and you cant buy them anywhere else so are not the same as the others you mention. Both our new model small and larger roof racks clear the original vw roof with no problems. Good luck trying to find a second hand rack :-) | |

| Hi Den - Both the larger and the smaller racks (if a 2010 model) clear the roof. Older models didnt. The price is the price due to the materials used (and their cost) and the labour. They are unique to us and not made anywhere else. Sounds like its not for you and like you said your looking for a cheaper second hand roof rack. Good luck and dont worry were mellow too! Hope it all goes well for you :-) | |

| Denni - Seems you having a 'have a go at Danbury day' ? Sorry as stated before your wrong with your statements. The JK roofrack and our neew 'small' roof rack are totally different. Your welcome to come and visit us and place one by the side of our exclusive roof rack so you can see they are different sizes (and they clear the VW cab roof which a JK roof rack does not). They are different specifications aswell. They are made and powder coated differently (in the UK not China like the JK ones) . They are not made in bulk by the companies you mention (or your mate) and you can only buy one from Danbury. Seems your being fed information incorrectly but we wont take it personally..... | |

| Steady on chaps!
I think the only way to sort this one out is to get examples of these racks together in one place and see how they compare, fit, etc.
Volksworld show? Should be enough examples around then .... ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

| Great idea Tim. We will be there and will bring one or two of our new roof racks so we all can see the differences as described. . . Lets hope the weather is good for the show as it can get very cold there from past experience! Coats and hats it is......... | |

| I'm assuming that the roof racks are not easy to remove and replace on the vehicle. Given that my van is likely going to have to be covered on the drive during the deepest winter months, does fitting a roof rack mean that it's more difficult/impossible to find a cover to fit? Is there are cover that fits roof racks as well? Are they easier to take off for the winter than I think?
Trying to work out whether to buy one.

| Hi Barry - The roof racks are easy to remove and re fit (I suggest you mark excatly where it was fitted when you do remove one so you can put it back in the same place!) Re covers there are lots of companies selling them on the internet and some that make them to order and size. Danbury will be selling specialist indoor and outdoor covers later this year that control humidity / temperature etc and you drive your car into a 'bag' and then seal it up (with you on the outside!) Good luck :-) | |
