Northern Chapter Meet 2015 - Fri 19th - Sun 21st June

After the success of this year's Northern Meet (I'm still grinning at the good time we had) it's been mooted that we meet in Scotland in 2015.

It's a long way off but I'm grabbing mid-summer again as the date for this event. Stick the date in your diaries, you Northerners...

19th - 21st JUNE 2015

Not sure Simon. I think Alan & Jane (Skytiger) we're going to have a think about whether they knew any.

I guess we can't go too far up just for the weekend. You checking some out sounds like a good idea.

We have always gone north on holiday and I think the general discussion had ideas of Scotland but not too far

Will start some research though, ideas and thoughts gratefully received Simon. Maybe some of the other Scottish crowd might have ideas too. Hint hint gordonmac, bonnie blue, buzzinfinity........

We are up for northern meet again it was ace last time we had a blast and it will be nice to go a bit more up north

Looking at the people on this topic, I didn't realise how many Brazi's are local to me.
I thought most were in the south for some reason.
June's a long way away.....what would be the chance of a local overnight mini meet for a one night overnighter somewhere?

Good idea. In the past Dent has been suggested as a venue but there must be loads near you.

Well we've  already booked to stay at chatsworth house for the Christmas fair in December. ..Might that be any good?

Okay folks, we've done a wee bit research and think we've come up with a plan for the Very Northern Meet 2015!

Initially we looked at sites around the borders, unfortunately its an area we're not that familiar with and sites that we thought would work for us still meant travelling a good 2 hours from the motorway.  So we changed our thinking and started to look at sites that were more local to us, particularly thinking about The Kelpies and surrounding attractions.

http://www.witchescraig.co.uk/ is a campsite is close to Wallace's Monument, based at the foot of the Ochil Hills .  It is easily reached from the M9 motorway.  The campsite is mainly gravel as the grass can get water logged, but the facilities are clean and tidy.  Both unfortunately and fortunately (!) it is very close to a busy road, so its not the peaceful tranquil site that the Northern Meet has been used to

However this does mean it is in a great location for walking to other attractions.  As I say, its at the foot of Wallace's Monument, the local town of Bridge of Allan can be reached on foot, it would also be possible to walk into Stirling via Causewayhead for those looking for big city attractions

We have just spent a few nights there and had a chance to speak with the owner about a potential BrazilainVWBay Northern Meet in June 2015. The site doesn't normally accommodate rallies as the site is often very busy, but once assured that we were  friendly bunch who are looking for a base to have a few bbqs, go for a walk, see some of the local area the owner agreed that they would be able to pitch up to 10 of us together.

Previous Northen Meets have shown that numbers do tend to dwindle the further north we go, so I'm not sure if a maximum 10 would be an issue?

Any thoughts?

Sounds interesting - given the distance I think we could combine it with a longer trip.

Looks very nice we are def up for Northern meet will be ace to get back to Scotland again we both love the place

Thinking of doing Scotland next year as well, so might coincide this with a longer stay as well

If the Kombi Kaper heads for warmer climbs in July and August we like others would consider combining a longer trip up country and gatecrashing the Northern do...

We'd always support the Northern Meet, although, if I'm honest, I'd prefer a site with more grass, as Boris suffers if he walks on gravel for too long (spoilt dog!) but for one weekend we could live with it. 

It's a plus that it's not a part of Scotland that we know too well so it would be good to explore.
