We are up for this where ever it maybe and we can do bike ride

We will be up for wherever. .just depends on the site we will be at. .but I'm sure we can meet up .

Hi Martin, we would like to attend & either the Peak District or the Yorkshire Dales would be very nice.

Can you confirm the current suggested dates? Not sure based on the above posts if they state the current thinking. We will get it in the diary.

The date (now cast in stone!) will be 10/11/12 June 2016.

It would be great to see you - make sure you bring your guitar and a songsheet for us!

We took a look at the Greenhills Holiday Park, which is in between Bakewell and Ashford in the Water in the Peak District. They have a grass touring field with hook-ups which is about the right size with excellent views, and they are happy to allow a rally on it. There is plenty of good walking nearby, including the Monsal Trail, pubs in Ashford, and pubs, restaurants and cafes in Bakewell. There is also a bar on-site. Nearby attractions include Peak Rail, Heights of Abraham and the National Tramway Museum. Might be worth considering.

It looks ideal. In the New Year I'll post to see who's interested - my only concern is the relative inaccessibility for those coming from the North and South, compared with the other choice of Dent.

For me I'd prefer Derbyshire, as it's an area we don't know so well. Did you speak to the people at the site?

Yes, we did speak to them, and they would be happy to accommodate us. I told them it would be about 12-15 vans, probably 20 at most. We took a look at the field, and the size is ideal. I'm just suggesting this as an option by the way, Dent would be fine for us as well. It's on the A6 and reasonably accessible for the M1, probably easier for the South, longer from Scotland of course.

and of course Chatsworth House is not far away. We have stayed in that area with the campervan and can confirm that Chatsworth is a great day out. The town of Matlock Bath is beside the Heights of Abraham and is worth a brief visit.

It's safe to say that I didn't enjoy our trip to Matlock Bath earlier this year:

New date in the diary!

At the Northern Xmas lunch yesterday, Alan and Gill (Voyager) very kindly offered to organise the 2016 Northern Chapter Meeting. The venue will be Bakewell and there'll be more information in the first part of 2016 when the site reopens.

If you let us know if you're attending I'll add your names to the list on the first post.

The site reopens in February, and I'll provide more details about the area and plans for the weekend between now and then. In the meantime, it would be helpful if we could get an idea of who is planning to attend so that I will be able to make a provisional booking as soon as they reopen. Apologies that it's quite a long haul for our Scottish members, but it's quite accessible from the M1 so maybe more of our Southern friends might be able to join us.
