Had our 'new' bay for just over a week and about to head our for first over-nighter with the dogs. Planning to leave them loose in the awning when we are about and its shut up, but the little ones are likely to leg it out under the van if that escape route is not blocked off.
Anyone with any info on an off the shelf product or made something bespoke that involves attaching without permanent fixings please

I have seen an inflatable "bar" that goes under the sliding door but can't for the life of me remember where at the moment. I think its advertised purpose was to stop draughts but it would also serve the purpose you seek. I'll think on, unless someone beats me to it.

Just Kampers sell what's described as an 'awning skirt' which if fitted appropriately may help, if you can block off the ends.

We have an awning skirt, it's easy to fit and (if fitted correctly) is quite sturdy.
Regular tent pegs secure it at ground level, bungee straps around the wheels at either end, and the top should sit neatly under the sliding door seal, I beleive it should also work if you have a side step.
As well as stopping dogs escaping, it's great for reducing through drafts and other small uninvited guests in your awning.

Kyham do something called a 'Baffle' that should do the job. Here is the link to the product on their website - http://www.khyam.co.uk/detail.asp?p=202666&product=Kamper%20Baffle

£45 on that!!! I'd rather buy a £10 inflatable mattress from Asda, position it between the wheels and inflate that until it filled the gap.

just bare in mind anything you put "under" your van is likely to get covered in waxoil (assuming you have done it!) and underseal ,might be worth thinking about ,when you come to put it away, just a thought.we use the awning skirt ,this goes round each wheel with a bungee thing and has eyelets in to fix to ground with tent pegs ,simple and quite efficient, and cheap.we paid a tenner from just jk a few years back. Not sure I would like to think it would keep your dogs in though, you might be better fixing leads to van as well.
