Subject: Genuine route of vans and parts from Brazil Thu Sep 04, 2014 1:20 am
Hi Guys
one of the people i work with in Spain is Brazilian, it just so happens he is bringing another T2 into Spain he has offered to help as he has a family member in Brazil and has been shipping T2's and Beetles to Spain for a while if anyone has a genuine inquiry please get in touch, parts or whole vehicles, the shipping can come to UK also but that route is untried at the moment, i can get some parts sporadically from Spain as i ship test parts to and from there anyway so something like a gearbox could go on my existing shipment and smaller parts in my suitcase it will not be a speedy route to getting things but may help with harder to get parts
if you were wondering a 2008 T2 is around €7000 plus shipping and taxes, he got quoted €37000 inc all taxes but not UK Reg fee for a 0 miles new final edition
I'm in spain weeks 38-40 and 45 so if his current T2 arrives then i will post an update and final costs condition etc
Regards
Ray

Hi Ray, that's interesting and useful to know. As you have contacts, and your friend has family in Brazil, you may be interested in this.
http://www.cdtm.com.br/produto.php?curso=51
(It is in Portuguese as I have copied it, but if you google Mecanica 2000 it comes up as the first on the page, you can then click on translate this page, then click on serie veiculos, go to page 3 and it is there in English. For some reason I can't paste the actual translated page.)
When I first joined the forum, I found this workshop manual and tried to get a copy from Brazil, but couldn't get a reply to my e-mails, and non of the regular money transfer systems seemed to work in Brazil. I also wasn't happy about sending money without some security.
As your friends family are there, they may be able to see if it is any good, and genuine.
I have since reverted to another manual, which is where I get a lot of the technical pages from, but it is a bit top heavy as it covers every Audi, Seat, VW etc, and their respective models and years, so it is a bit of a pain extracting the stuff relevant to our Kombis.
From the link, it looks good, and there are videos included in the package which although in Portuguese should be useful.
I would be interested to know what your friend makes of it.

Hi Ray.
Do you know by chance what you'd be expected to pay for a low mileage 12 or 13 year T2 ( if there are any)? and also how safe would your money be ? cheers...Tim

struggling with web access in china, here is 2013 T2 sorry pic quality is low, if anyone wants the full e mail with pics inc interior and close ups let me know, Marcio seems to think he can get shipping costs right down so it could be landed in spain for around €22000 his T1 has arrived already and looks very nice buts its not a true Brazi bay so i wont clutter up the site with it

Only have a few people that I know of that has imported their own and both told me after that they would never do it again as the hassle and cost was not worth it. Bear in mind used kombi in Brazil are often not very well looked after and regarded as a commercial work horse. My advice to anyone wanting a vehicle in the uk would be to use a trusted registered trader where your funds are more protected. They will also give you a warranty , organise homologation, registration, fit the camper van interior and any options etc . They will also make sure the taxes and import duties are paid etc .. The other advantage is you can see and test the vehicle before paying for it . You also have the option of part exchange and possibly finance . It's how companies like Danbury survive and can offer back up to its customers for the long term :-) It makes a big difference to the end customer .
And also a right hand drive option...

what i call T1 is a split screen camper
Jason all risks etc are understood, its an open option for people who might want it, i'm not making anything from it Marcio has been bringing over vans and cars for a while, i bought the first manual new shape Ford Mustang into the UK in 2004 (2005 Model car) and got it through its inspection with original rear lights when everyone else was bolting ugly lamps on, depends on everyones comfort zone i suppose getting Dizzy's manual was easy enough
