Yes I'm afraid so - after a lovely weekend at Stirling we took the decision to part company. But we'll be turning up at future events in a hired van courtesy of retrorunaways. Geoff

| Difficult decisions to part with a Kombi - there have been a few recently - still at least you will be attending future events in a Kombi. ________________________________________________________________________________ Proud winners of Spike's Trophy 2017 Scooby - Born To Run | |

| We're slowly chrome-ing Micey up! New gear stick knob and hand brake handle, door handles etc,. even a chrome surround for the numberplate (as you could see some of the holes where the new numberplate fitted differently iyswim). Got another panel covered in vinyl too (two down, three to go!). Have been buying increasing amounts of what my dear husband would call tat or unnecessary clutter to go in it too lol. Can't wait for the school summer holidays when hopefully I'll have more time to make new curtains as the material has been sitting in the hallway for over a month already!

| Drove to Yate to have a new sliding door window fitted and have the steering checked over and re-greased ahead of the Kombi Kaper.
We're good to go! ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

| Bought some of the extra bright head light bulbs ages ago and haven't gotten around to fitting them. Job done.
General maintenance 1 - while the headlights were out I gave the insides of the headlight surrounds a good clean and a generous dose of waxoyl. I did the same for the headlight trims and eye lids.
General maintenance 2 - while the waxoyl was out (and partly due to dropping a screw behind the front bumper) I also removed the front bumper, cleaned everything up, liberally covered everything in waxoyl and put it all back together.
General maintenance 3 - I fitted some extra 12v sockets in the back a while ago, today I replaced one of them with a dual usb socket instead.

| Fitted some new stainless steel eyelids. The head on one of the headlight securing screws is very worn - does anyone know where I could get a new one? ________________________________________________________________________________ Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

| If it is the one for the headlight rim Abs, JK do them, but they appear to be out of stock, if it is one of the three retaining/adjustment screws for the actual headlight, it is the second one in the list.
VW Heritage seem to have the longer, rim screw, in stock.

| Took Eddie to Brand Autos today (which, by the way, has doubled in size). Had a service, suspension grease, and Paul also sorted out an electrical problem that drained the starter battery. Also had an MOT which Eddie sailed through with no advisories. All ready to take to the Ile De Re. | |

| Checked underneath, noticed one of the exhaust mounts on its last legs, got a new one from Eurocarparts and fitted it!
Liberal spraying of white grease on various other parts too. Renewed the sliding door grease so it's smooth throughout the Kaper and beyond!
Started to pack! ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

| Unpacked her from our French holiday.....repacked her for my nieces wedding in Suffolk.....set off for journey...turned back because exhaust which had been getting increasingly noisy in France sounded as if it was about to blow. ....transfered wedding stuff to car! In Travelodge realised I have left my toiletries in Bumble! M. | |
