So, Beef & Pudding have announced they will no longer be serving food and be a bar only with immediate effect.

I have spoken to them today, and they said that while they are honouring the bookings, they will only provide the Christmas Menu. I have said that this is not what we want and have received a refund on our deposit. I feel this is the wisest thing to do as the owning company is in financial difficulty and I did not want to risk our booking or money.

I have now made a provisional booking at the same venue as last year - The Grill on New York Street. We can have a table for 19 (+child) for 3pm to 6pm. I have 48 hours to confirm and pay the deposit.

Can people please let me know this is OK, or if you have any other venue suggestions?

So to confirm, we are back down to a booking for 17 people as follows;

The deposit for the new venue is the same as the last, so no additional to pay.

As soon as I see the refund from the previous booking show on my account, i will pay the new booking deposit.

I realise it may seem a bit boring going back to the same place but it seemed to be a popular choice with everyone last year and I was unsure how easy it would be for us to book in 17 people somewhere at this shorter notice.

Yes, this is fine for us. Evidently the company owning this and other restaurants went into liquidation, and this restaurant was sold off. I suspect that there would have been question marks over the food and service given the uncertain future.

More decisions to be made.....

due to the size of our group, we are unable to order from the a-la-carte menu. We must all choose from just one of the following 3 set menus;

1 £29.95
2 £35.00
3 £40.00
