2019 Cotswold meet - early May bank holiday 3rd to 6th

I now know that I will have my new van in March so we will be there guaranteed ! (or not. Hymer let us down on delivery)

Can it be as good as last year's meet? I do hope so.

(I'm not waiting an hour for fish n chips though. I will order via Just Eat)

the season is almost upon us.
I have no idea if the list at the top of this thread is correct or not - has anyone lese boked?

Please let me know if you would like me to book you in for Monday lunch at the Norman Knight - (same venue as last year) before you depart.

The weekend will run something like - arrivals friday night - chip and fish van on site for those that wish to queue! - Saturday - general catch up, chin wag, be merry - optional walk and/or cycle, maybe skittles?, Sunday - Kombi convoy to local Cotswold town, Communal BBQ, Monday - pack up, lunch at the Norman Knight (optional)
- depart for home

The venue - Cotswold View caravan and camping site - Charlbury, Oxfordshire

We sorted out our pitch number. Just need to find the email to remind me what one we are on.
Looked, we are pitch 100.
As we expect to have our new Campervan by then Sadie will be staying home if not already sold as we are having her resprayed (already happened).

If we come on the convoy we will hang at the back not having a VW.

The fish & chips were super last year. The wait was mega long though.

I wondered if a different approach may appeal - convoy to the cotswold distillery and a pub lunch on the Saturday?

ok - I'm going to try and pull the following together for the Sunday - Kombi convoy to the Cotswild distillery for a tour starting at 11am followed by lunch at the Norman Knight at 1.30 - at the moment neither place is answering the phone!! and I'm not sure where any children will go during the distillery tour altho Gary has said he will have them if they aren't allowed in so:

As we do not have a date for our new camper van's delivery I would like to make our booking for Cotswold View available should anyone wish to attend. The booking is three nights Friday 3rd May leaving on Monday 6th May. Cost is £84. The campsite have confirmed that the booking is transferrable. We have pitch 100 which is in the area that our group is camping.

Arrival on the Friday is from 12:30 and departure on the Monday by noon.

That's a shame Ian you and Margaret will be missed

I have reserved a table for 20 people at the Norman Knight on Sunday 5th March for lunch and am waiting for the distillery to get back to me where I have, so far, booked 14 places.

Feeling very grumpy. Lily went into garage yesterday to have her new windscreen fitted following ‘a crack forming after stone got thrown up on my first trip away this year”. Out came screen to reveal “the worst rust, holes etc they’d ever seen in a camper of that age!” Photos followed and it’s really horrid; massive holes along both bottom corners, lots of rusts’

The garage are going to do their best to get all the work required completed in time for the Cotswolds weekend away so fingers crossed and watch this space.

No I was very shocked both at the terrible state of the rust and holes, and the impending bill of £1,000 approx! And that doesn’t include the new screen or seal.

In fairness the only rust visible was a very tiny bit along the edge of the seal which I asked them to check out when they removed the windscreen. I had a leak fixed during warranty but clearly the screen has had some serious “leak issues” and water has sat in the frame and rusted right through!

Broad Lane Garage in Hampton are doing the work for me. Small local garage who I rediscovered (still family owned and run....and used to look after my parents mini) and now specialise in VW campers. Hoping they won’t discover any more hidden horrors.
