| Here goes - my first post as owner of 'Monty' my 08 tin top Brazilian Bay. I come from a family of 1975 Westy owners but I am the first to join the Brazilian Bay club - very exciting times! We picked up Monty last week and I just noticed every time my other half closes her door the wing mirror moves position. The fixture into the van itself is not loose but instead the swivel holding the actual mirror is loose compared to my side. I have taken the rear cap off to check the fixtures in case there was an obvious part that just needs tightening but cannot see what might be the issue. Has anyone else experienced this before or able to offer any advise on how I might be able to fix this issue? Thanks in advance! | Firstly, Welcome to the forum. I can't personally help you with that enquiry but hopefully somebody more technically minded will be along soon with some proper advice.

| Have always had this problem with our nearside passenger door mirror. Using that door leads to a drooping mirror. Because the black surface of the first mirror was becoming pitted we had a new replacement fitted by Danbury. However the second mirror still droops as badly as the first. Driver's side mirror has never been a problem. Am looking forward to some fixing advice on here osg | |

| Thanks for the welcome BeakyBoy - fingers crossed someone can help!
OSG - did you go back to Danbury to see if they could fix it for you? Strange it would happen on 2 mirrors and especially if one was a new replacement!

| At Danbury just asked for mirrors to be replaced by new. Expected (wrongly) that the droop would be automatically corrected when the new mirrors were fitted. osg | |

| Just a thought. Those mirrors would have originally been black. Do you think a previous owner took the mirror off the swivel holding to paint it and consequently loosened the fitting? | |

| harryhornet - great shout! Do you know how we tighten the mirror rather than the fixture into the van?
Any tips would be great!

| I suggest you buy a new mirror .... I don't believe there is an adjustment. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |

| Danbury kept a stock as they replaced them with chrome versions. That is where we obtained ours. May be worth asking a price there too
I had never noticed the screw in the mirror base - (your latest picture). Worth trying to tighten it - I'll have a go

Just Kampers have them in stock. Strangely though the right mirror is selling at £51.43 and the left at £149.95. .?..?

| The screw in the base of the mirror is too offset to reach with a screwdriver without removing the whole assembly. Will give up and live with my occasionally drooping mirror unless someone has definite information that this screw could be the answer to the problem. osg | |

| Just noticed the price difference - things were meant to be!
I cut some old plastic pipe and managed to slip it around the spring like section - mirror has not moved since!
Will explore options on getting a new one painted if all else fails!
Thanks for everyone’s tips and maybe someone will have the answer!

| Had never noticed before but, having read the above post, we do have different shaped mirror glass in our standard black frames. Both are convex but the driver's side (RHS) is more curved than the passenger side. osg | |

| As a result of my 'change' I have a pair of mirrors available, as described, if this helps anyone out. They are original black. |
