Subject: Faulty crankshaft sensor help Sun Aug 02, 2020 7:51 pm
Hi We are currently on holiday in Cornwall and our 2013 T2 Kombi has broken down. AA have said it's a faulty Crankshaft sensor. We need to wait until tomorrow to try and call a garage but would be grateful for any advice. Are the sensors easy to obtain and would a mechanic be able to replace on site as we are are currently sitting on a camp site! Any help would be appreciated thank you

The sensor could be the same as a Vw Fox 1.4 and both have very similar engines

Thank you for your replay.
How long does it take to fit and are the sensors easy for garages to order?

some are very easy to fit others can be a nightmare just depends on were it is and what’s around it old 1 needs removal first to get part number off it so you get the right one

According to VW ETKA, the crankshaft impulse sensor is part number 032906 433, and knock sensor 030 905377c (Bosch equivalent 0261 231146. Both have a lot of equivalents, but as always get your supplier to double check suitability. Hope you get it sorted.

Hi there, I am having the same issue with my 2010 Brazilian Camper. The computer diagnostic said the crankshaft sensor was faulty, so I had this changed and the engine light is still coming on. How did you sort out your problem?
I would be grateful for any help as the little local garage I use has given up!
Many thanks
Ciaran

I have solved a crank shaft sensor problem and just posting on here in case it is helpful to others:
Van: 2010 VW T2 Kombi Brazilian Bay Engine: BTJ
Problem: Van struggles to start when cold. Have to run an electric fan heater in the engine compartment for 20 minutes. Then takes a minute or two of turning the engine over before it will run at all. It then runs coughing/spluttering and stalling for another minute or so. Weirdly, it then finally bursts into life and runs very well. The transition from coughing/spluttering to running well is not at all gradual, it’s as if someone flips a switch.
Solved by: Bishop's Stortford (Herts / Essex border) Branch of VWAuditec. http://www.vwauditec.co.uk/bishops-stortford-branch.html Independent VW Audi specialist. Top quality service
Report: Interrogated fault memory using VCDS diagnostic equipment; Found data for 16706 engine speed sensor G28; Established component as crankshaft sensor; Removed inlet manifold to access; Replaced G28 crank sensor part 03C 906 433 E G28. Part £84. Labour £290
Outcome: very happy. Useless van stuck at home is now back in action! Thank you VW Auditec for your can-do attitude and open-mindedness to an imported VW that is "not on the system"

Hello All,
I've just joined the group and have a similar issue with my 2007 van. The AA rescued me on my way back from France and picked up a faulty crankshaft sensor fault. Have ordered the part and shall share the results if successful. I suspect the ignition leads haven't been replaced in the correct order though. If there is anyone who wouldn't mind posting a pic of their engine bay with the ignition leads I'd be grateful. Thank you in advance and liking the group, thank you for adding me.

Hi everybody I was searching for a part and I found this forum! Maybe somebody can help me, my crankshaft isn’t working anymore. I was searching for a new one but with the number on the part I took of the engine I get another part. The crankshaft number on the part is 032906433 if I order the same one with this number I get one with a wrong installation dept, I need one with an installation dept of 23.9. Can anybody help me with this?
