Brazilian VW Bay Bike To Brighton - Sunday 21st June

I do Strava too (Julie Green, Croydon) Got my first QOM a couple of weeks ago - on the road that leads back to my house! Great for charting improvement or lack of .

Just downloaded it, training starts tomorrow!

I've also been offered the use of a friends road bike for the actual event. Which is nice.

I shall be getting some road slicks on my mtb this Monday and starting to play catch-up with all this training malarkey!!

Luckily I'm up north that w/e, as I couldn't be doing with all that training malarkey, as the dust on my C2 rower will attest.

See if you can get some puncute resistant slicks .. I think I've got schwalbe ones on mine and they're great..

Oops. You know what I meant LOL...

First training session done, about 35km covered. We went the long way round to the pub and back!

Wow... managed 11.5 miles around Richmond Park Saturday, before the family got up but surrounded and outclassed by cycling clubs and Wiggins wannabees!

New slicks arrive today according to an email I just received, so no excuses now!

I always used to train for the Manchester to Blackpool ride on knobblies, then switch to slicks a week before.

The difference was unbelievable and the ride was a breeze after that.

First session smashed. 16.7km in 51 mins.

just got breakdown recovery back home with my daily driver" diesel " tiguan having filled it with unleaded- doh !
worst still our company vw lease agreement only permits tank drain downs during 9 to 5. the recovery driver did suggest next time I fill up during office hours

Ouch Feliz , that's not good but you won't be the last.. We've had at least three of our company car drivers do exactly the same... Unfortunately an easy mistake to make but one in 2015 that Car manufactures and Fueling stations could easily eliminate...

Right Guy's 8 Weeks this Sunday to Ride Day (Hopefully I can count!!) so am hoping that everyone has at least had one ride out by now. If not it's time to get the bike out , dust off the cobwebs and get in the saddle.

Am no expert but think we need to be aiming for at least 2/3 rides out per week from now to the 21st June. Gradually build up the miles and aim to do at least one longer ride of between 30-40 miles if you can. Miles in the tank in training are priceless come the event.

I've been back in the saddle for a couple of weeks and can already notice the difference in my stamina and uphill speeds.
