Looks pretty nice from where I'm standing.

thanks - we've had it 15 years and not had to do anything to it.  It's lived out in the snow and has been used as a daily driver when my wife worked in sales.

My daily is a year 2000 Toyota Celica which I have had from new. 1 very satisfied customer after 113k miles. It is my third Celica, and I also had a Corolla which was in the family from new to scrapyard.

I know you don't like the bloke but Richard Hammond winched a Defender up a dam on last night's Top Gear.

Why did he do that, hh?

Apparently the colour is Havana, although how that's a colour is beyond me. No green available I'm afraid.

Isn't Havana brown? Or maybe your landy is and it's the light in the pics.

I'd say more grey than brown but I do have a touch of colour blindness.

Saw a new defender today on M6 heading north around Knutsford Services thought it might be you on a run out but slowed down as I passed and alas it wasn't you guys... Did look good though. .

Cannot get your Land Rover to start? Try a potato






An AA mechanic has received an award after fixing a Land Rover with a potato.

Mario Papademetriou, 59, mended the ignition system of the Sixties-era vehicle by strapping a potato to the engine with cable ties. With the addition of two screws, the potato worked as a condenser, part of the ignition system on older vehicles.

Mr Papademetriou, a patrolman in north-east London, said: “As the vehicle was on a farm, there were a lot of vegetables around, so I thought I’d try wiring up a potato with a couple of screws. Amazingly, it started, so I followed the member to the garage and he said the vehicle had never driven so well.”

I'd better carry some root veg wherever I go. I'm just off to Waitrose for some celeriac.
