Dirt cheap Sony CD/Radio with iPod/iPhone connectivity

Halfords are running a Bank Holiday special on this particular Sony unit. It's a lot of kit for the money. Originally £199 it's now £60. I'm picking one up tomorrow to replace the old Sony unit in my Audi, but maybe you could do with one for your BraziBay?

A couple of months back the front nearside speaker on mine packed up, and when I had the door cards off, I checked the speaker, and wiring as far as possible and all seemed ok, so I'm assuming it is the radio itself.

As the one in situ is a Sony, I'm assuming it will be just a case of getting the old one out and it will be 'plug and play' without having to do too much rewiring.

Yep should be dizzy. This one charges the iPhone/iPod and should pull through the data etc. Bargain.

Would anyone going to the Sleepover be able to buy me one of these and I'll reimburse you next week? Just about to dock at Palma, Majorca and I doubt there'll be a Halfords there.

No problem at all Martin, just get the old one out plug in the new one. Luckily my old unit was Sony, so the plug was the same.

We've got the model before this one, the USB connectivity/charger very tempting on the this one at the price..You've got a bargain guys...

Yep, just been treating Pats neighbours to my 'Free' CD on full blast.

Do I need a special tool to take the current Sony out?

Assuming its the unit fitted by Danbury, the extractions tools should have been provided. Ours were.....

Hmmm. Wonder where that would be then! (Or what it looks like!) ;-)

They will probably look like pieces of a wire coat hanger.

Think square bracket '[' with longer horizontal parts, the vertical part becomes a handle as the 'pins' fit in the holes top and bottom of the stereo at each end.

Slide each one in until they click, then gently pull both and the whole unit should slide out.

The extractors will look something like this Abs.

I didn't have the ones from Danbury, but luckily access is fairly easy from the back, and the radio bracket hadn't had the tabs bent over so I was able to push the whole caboodle, (radio and frame) straight out from behind.

Defffo don't have any of those. Maybe someone less inept than me (that's most people then) could give me a hand at the weekend.
