I am the owner of a 2008 plate Brazilian Bay named Enfys (welsh for rainbow) which has been converted to RHD by Danbury. I am considering trying to improve the steering and after research have found that there seems to be two camps. Those who favour the Danbury power steering system which means instaling a rack and pinion system instead of the steering box and those who favour the lite steer power steering option which uses the original steering box. As a matter of interest has anybody fitted the danbury rack and pinion system without the power steering ? I believe this unit is produced by creative engineering. Is it really impossibly heavy without the power steering ?

Hi,
We had a 09 Rio into stock that had the Danbury (creative engineering!) rack and pinion fitted , the camper was lowered on alloys and was almost impossible to drive! We took it to Neil at lite steer who modified one of his EPAS kits to fit and it was like a different camper! Very positive and easy to drive. I personally have Rack and Pinion (red 9 design wishbone) on my classic that Neil at litesteer played with and its very good!

Hi,
I've got a 2004 aircooled had the Litesteer EPAS system fitted by Neil at Litesteer and at the same time he replaced the original Brazilian steering box with a late bay steering box. Apparently the steering box fitted in Brazilian bays is mechanically closer to the split screen era and so can have a significant amount of play. Sufficient to say the the combination of the Litesteer EPAS and the late bay sttering box worked wonders!

What's wrong with a little 'wandering' now and then? We like 'wandering around' with Scooby Roo b Roo

We have the rack and pinion fitted, it does make the steering more responsive and less prone to wander but it needs setting up properly, which ties you to danburys as noone else can make much sense of it. Also the universal joints come loose and then can suddenly snap, leaving you with no steering.
