| I met another kombi owner the other day who's bus is called Ethel Mae, who said that his power steering was fitted for about £550, and he thought the parts were from a ford fiesta, I took a close up photo of it but still struggle with uploading photos on here from my phone, so if anyone wants to pm me on the fb site I can send it them to upload it to here for others to see and comment. ________________________________________________________________________________ Timmm

| There was a trade stall at Brighton Breeze last weekend selling 2nd hand spares for various buses, at the front of the stall was a box marked "T25 power steering kit" full of various bits and pieces including what looked like a steering column.
Can't remember how much the guy was asking, but it wasn't much - my main thought was how can ANYONE guarantee the safety and full functioning of 2nd hand parts as complicated and critical as this, even if they did know how to install them! ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

| He did however say that he was registered on this site.
Does it look like just a regular type fitting such as Danbury would fit? or is it something youve not seen before... ________________________________________________________________________________ Timmm

| I've not seen a Danbury EPAS system up close, but I can confirm that it's definitely not a Litesteer EPAS conversion. ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

| Intriguing. Not sure I'd be happy about a column from a different (smaller, lighter) vehicle being used in a (larger, heavier) BraziBay.
Is it speed sensitive or constant pressure? ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

| HOW IT WORKS
the cars steering column is the same column as fitted to the car originally but with the addition of an electric motor connected in the middle, we use specially machined joints to connect all the sections together making it stronger than the original , it mounts in the car as it did from the factory with an extra bracket on the base of the motor , which we usually attach to the pedal box or bulkhead for extra strength. our "easysteer" systems still retain the original fittings including the ignition barrel, steering wheel, column surrounds and all looks as it should, all the wiring and control boxes are easily hidden away under the dash ( we normally mount them both on the kick panel out of sight ) all our systems are fused by a 40/50 amp maxi fuse to the motor and a 7.5 amp inline to the controller, all units include simple plug and play wiring instructions our easysteer EPS power steering is the perfect answer to the age old steering problem , at " easysteer " we understand the needs of our customers and their cars , this is why when we are designing a vehicle steering set up we firstly make it stronger than the original , then we hide the system either under the dash or behind the shrouds as much as possible so it appears untouched , once the system is fitted it will out last and out perform all your old power steering systems, its maintainance free and as its fitted inside the car it wont rot or wear out like the old hydraulic set ups.
easysteer power systems are a fit and forget system , all your steering components remain unchanged , so your rack, track control arms , track rod ends and column universal joint are standard none power steering items ( cheaper to replace ) and in the highly unlikely event of a power loss the worst your steering will do is to revert back to how it used to be ,, unlike the old systems if ever you lost power steering your car became undriveable

| I'd be interested in Neil's view on their system form a Litesteer point of view. ________________________________________________________________________________ Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

| As far as I can see their basic system is not speed sensitive. It seems that they also have a speed sensitive controller, I don't know what that would add to the cost. Personally, given how a standard steering box responds to gusts of wind and motorway ruts, I wouldn't want power steering if it wasn't speed sensitive. I've got Litesteer and am very happy with it, although I am also considering upgrading to rack and pinion some time. | |

| The one in the pic doesn't look like a Brazi Bay column, but maybe it is the top and bottom of one with a UJ fitted below the new motor. - Quote :

Me too, and Danbury for that matter. ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

| Not sure what they've used there but from a Danbury point of view we don't recommend adding power steering to the standard steering box as it's simply not designed to take that sort of force and pressure . Ones we've seen with it fitted have had excessive play in the box . That's why we offer a complete replacement of the system via our modern rack and pinion steering with or without speed sensitive power steering . Anyone is welcome to book a drive in both Danbury systems by appointment to see the difference. You'll ne amazed . It removes the 'sway' and makes the steering far more precise. A video of a customer driving one can be seen on the official Danbury channel on YouTube too. Hope this helps :-) | |
