1 day KOMBI Konvoy 2016 - Sat 20th Feb - to Goodwood Race Circuit, West Sussex

We had such fun blasting the cobwebs out of our BraziBays on our 1 day konvoy last year, that we're doing it all over again.  Except this time, we're going racing - well, we'll be on a race track!!

I've negotiated for us to visit the famous Goodwood Race Circuit in West Sussex.  A MG owners club have the track booked for circuits that day, but during the 40 minute lunch break, we're going to be able to roll our BraziBays onto the grid for a photo session and then enjoy a couple of parade laps of the track.  Once we've done that we can grab a bite to eat at the Old Control Cafe, whilst watching the MG folks hack around the circuit in front of us.

Afterwards we'll head off for a konvoy through the glorious countryside and conclude at a decent pub for a meal.

There is a cost involved of £25 per BraziBay to visit Goodwood, but I think that's reasonable to be able to drive your campervan on this world famous track!  

If you're interested, please reply below.  We can take up to 40 Kombis on the day - if we can get that many it would make for an amazing sight!  Let's show those MG folk how we roll!!

Update 2nd February

Today I did a recce of Arundel and the route to The White Horse.  I'm glad I did because the Mill Road car park where I intend for us to park the BraziBays has height restriction barriers, which are normally closed at the weekends.  A bit of smooth talking from me and I persuaded the managers of the place to open them especially for us on the 20th.

Arundel is a delightful Sussex town.  The castle won't be open until later in the year but there's plenty to have a look at around its location and the place is brimming with tea and cake shops.  I anticipate we'll have around a 1.5hr stopover here.
I recommend Motte and Bailey's Lemon Sponge cake!



No way is that 2.6m at the bottom of the lower horizontal bar!

A lifelong question was answered for me today though .... sweet!

I emailed the White Horse to ask about a children's menu and gluten free dishes, here is their reply:

"The risotto, sticky short ribs, caesar salad (without croutons) and soup are all gluten free as is the burger (minus the bun)  for kids we can do the fish and chips, burger, and Toulouse sausages as a kids option."

I'm thinking you can only book for the two nights. And it's less to do with being organised and more to do with if I don't do things straight away I just forget!!

I raced motorbikes on that circuit every year for 10 years. With other events going on at the same time (motor racing, Spitfires taking off etc) it's a good day out.

I'm having to travel home to that area a lot for the next 6 months, so I'll try to get there for that one.

This is quite a drive for us now but sounds like a great day, too good to miss so we're in!
