The 2017 French Kaper will be to the Ile de Re, near La Rochelle.

Can we reserve judgement until we've been this summer. Very much looking forward to it. For a whole host of reasons it would be good to know potential dates as soon as as although I have 6 weeks to play with others do not. Ta

Indeed I could be there for the whole six weeks!

We definitely want to go back to the Ile de Re and if the Kaper was going back there in '17 that would be the icing on the cake.
There's obviously a fair amount of time to make plans but i think it would be good if Als could pick up a plan of the site whilst they are there in the summer and this could be used to choose adjacent pitches.

Talking of towels I found Brazilian flag beach towels today for a fiver if anyone wants one

I hardly dare say. I will have to whisper. I was in disguise. Asda living!  I'm most likely going back over to the same area on sat so could pick some up for you. Needless to say they are not the bestest Quality

We have one and considering the price the quality is not too bad (not using as a towel mind you) bought and used for decoration at the Sleepover.

The site from last year was very good but we did feel a bit vulnerable at time being at the bottom of the gravelly hill. Fortunately it was only our first aid kit that took a beating and not Tallulah, but it was close a couple of times. If we can select a nice cul-de-sac location for the crew, that would be fab.

There was also another site with access to the other end of the beach. I think it would be worth investigating at least, @als you up for a spy mission?

Les Prises ****. Lovely campsite with heated and covered pool (essential at Easter) Nr Couarde sur Mer. We've been there twice!

Its surrounded by vines and it's closest beach is about 800m away with Couarde sur mer (cafes, restaurants and supermarche) about 1.5km away. Loix (a touristy fishing village) is about 2km with an oyster farm about 1.5km

I don't think it is quite on the scale of the one used last year. In the Summer the pool is uncovered and I think a little café opens. It has a few groups of small static vans with decked areas outside and most of the pitches have low level bushes between. I suspect 15 Kombis would be 10% of their site.

Just had a look and there appear to be several camp sites along that bit of coast. I'll do some more research online and shortlist one or two for a visit.

We'd be interested in coming along but I really doubt we'll be able to holiday in the School holidays in 2017. A number of my key staff have already indicated that they'd like to holiday in July/August as they didn't get the opportunity this year.

Will keep looking at the thread and if dates (once known) can work for us we'd love to join in.

On ferry on way home from a great week on the ile de Ré ( blog up tomorrow) . We're def planning on going back next year

I know the campsite can't take a booking until mid November but are we able to secure places on the St Malo crossings before then? That route sells out very quickly.

Currently cruising past the Isle of Wight in baking sunshine with a g and t such a difference to the crossing over!

Sailings are deffo available. If we're going we need to agree dates asap.
